One Reason To Use GTBank’s New Instant Mobile Phone Money Transfer
GTBank sent me this very good news in an email in the middle of the night. i swear I wasn’t even mad because it was such good news.
The bank has launched a first of its kind mobile channel through which GTBank customers can conveniently perform third party transfers to both GTBank and other bank account holders in Nigeria, via their mobile phones, by simply dialing the USSD short code *737 with details of the amount and account number (NUBAN) of the beneficiary.
The *737* transfer service is a novel offering pioneered by GTBank in 2014. GTBank customers could buy airtime on their mobile phones directly from their GTBank account by simply dialing a short USSD code (*737*AMOUNT#).
To initiate transfers to a GTBank account, simply dial *737*1*Amount*NUBAN Account No# e.g. *737*1*1000*1234567890#; and for transfers to a recipient in another bank, the sender will dial *737*2*Amount*NUBAN Account No#. The transaction will then be authenticated by the sender inputting the last four digits of their GTBank Naira MasterCard.
The *737* Transfer service is only available to GTBank customers via their mobile phone numbers registered with the Bank and has minimum transfer limit of N1,000 and a daily transfer limit of N20,000. The only catch is that the number from which the transaction is initiated be registered along with the sender’s bank account.
Oh remember that one reason I said you needed to use this service? Yeah there’s only one. BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS TO QUEUE AT THE BANK ANYWAY. And who doesn’t like convenience.
