Its a new week and with the new week comes another episode of the Techpoint Africa podcast.

This week, we discussed the bullying allegations against Flutterwave’s founder, MTN’s contribution to Nigeria’s tax revenue, and the fresh capital raised by ZirooPay and SmartWage.

We kicked off by discussing the recent furore surrounding Flutterwave and its founder Olugbenga ‘GB’ Agboola.

On Monday, March 7, 2022, a former employee Clara Wanjiku published an article where she alleged that she had been bullied by Agboola following her resignation from the fintech startup.

Next we explored the recent revelation that MTN Nigeria was responsible for 13% of tax revenues and the implications on the Nigerian economy.

There’s almost no day that goes by without a funding story and we rounded off the discussion with ZirooPay’s $11.4 million Series A and SmartWage’s $2 million seed funding.
