- Gebeya, a Pan-African talent cloud technology company, has partnered with NVIDIA, one of the world’s largest companies by market cap, to launch an ecosystem of 50,000 NVIDIA-certified developers across Africa.
- The collaboration will take a phased approach, starting with a proof-of-concept phase in the first year and expanding to all African countries by the third.
- Developers participating in the initiative will benefit from access to NVIDIA’s community and ecosystem, as well as training and certifications from the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute.
Gebeya, a SaaS-enabled tech talent marketplace, launched this collaboration with NVIDIA eight months after it transitioned into an all-in-one talent cloud provider in February 2024. Founded in 2017 as an edtech startup, Gebeya’s platform now offers solutions addressing organisational needs, including public, private, strategic, and sourcing talent clouds.
Under the partnership with NVIDIA, Gebeya’s Talent Cloud will be powered by its AI-driven Talent Cloud Technology, offering skilling, recruitment, vetting, matching, and community building. The platform will also integrate NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute learning paths, providing NVIDIA certifications.
This initiative seeks to bridge the skills shortage in AI across Africa and equip African developers with specialised skills in utilising NVIDIA technologies, fostering growth and innovation within Africa’s tech industry.
Wei Xiao, Director of Developer Relations at NVIDIA, commented that the collaboration with Gebeya, focused on African developers, will help establish Africa as a hub for AI expertise, attracting investments and promoting global competitiveness.
Amadou Daffe, CEO of Gebeya, said the partnership will provide a unified solution for fragmented tech communities, bridge the AI skills gap, accelerate industry growth and innovation, and position Africa as a centre for NVIDIA expertise.
Gebeya previously collaborated with Microsoft in December 2023 to launch Microsoft.Gebeya.com, a skills and job-matching platform. This partnership aims to upskill 300,000 developers in Kenya, South Africa, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lesotho, Nigeria, Egypt, and Mozambique over three years, with a target of 150,000 developers trained in the first year.
Meanwhile, Gebeya is not the only platform that provides a Talent Cloud solution. Andela, an Africa-focused talent outsourcing startup, launched the Andela Talent Cloud in December 2023. It is an integrated, end-to-end platform that connects skilled talent with businesses, transforming the hiring process for tech companies and professionals.
