  • inDrive has expanded its services across Zimbabwe, now providing ride-hailing services in four major cities: Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru, and Mutare.
  • The company has also launched courier services in Zimbabwe's capital, Harare, making it even more convenient for customers.
  • The launch of the new courier service will enable individuals and businesses to send packages safely and efficiently while its intercity service, which has been successfully connecting cities for some time, continues to provide passengers enhanced flexibility and convenience in planning their travels.

Kudzai Jeke, inDrive’s Country Representative in Zimbabwe, expressed excitement about the expansion in Zimbabwe, stating that with its presence in the major cities, they are making significant progress towards offering fair and more accessible mobility solutions to the Zimbabwean community.

“The launch of our courier services, alongside our existing intercity service and ride-hailing, reflects our commitment to addressing local needs and challenges, empowering residents and businesses with greater convenience and opportunities for growth,” Jeke added.

The ride-hailing market in Zimbabwe is expected to generate revenue of $5.36 million in 2024 with an annual growth rate (CAGR 2024-2029) of 73.43%, resulting in a projected market volume of $84.09 million by 2029.

The number of users in this market is also expected to reach 2.80 million users by 2029, with a user penetration of 13.7% in 2024 and 14.9% by 2029.

This comes despite the country's economic challenges. inDrive leverages this, allowing users to negotiate costs directly with its app’s “name your price” model which promotes fairness in pricing while ensuring quality service.

InDrive, which operates in 779 cities across 40 countries, entered Zimbabwe's market in March 2023, offering ride-hailing services in the country’s capital, Harare.

In September 2024, it also launched its ride-hailing service in another city in the country, Bulawayo, maintaining safety features such as passenger ratings, travel address alerts, a Safety Center, an emergency SOS button, and a “Share the Ride Route” option on its platform.

In January 2024, the company revealed plans to introduce financial services products, including small loans for drivers, in developing markets where it operates to achieve long-term financial stability for its growing driver base.

inDrive competes with other ride-hailing services in the country, such as Bolt and Uber. In January 2024, Bolt announced its expansion into the country and waived driver commissions for at least six months.
