  • Yango Delivery, a logistics startup focused on in-city service delivery, has introduced Cargo Express, a new feature to improve the delivery of large and bulky items across Africa.
  • With this move, the company hopes to address the inefficiencies and unclear pricing that impede the logistics ecosystem.
  • This feature will be implemented in major cities such as Accra, Abidjan, and Lusaka, giving customers more options, such as mover assistance and ten minutes of free loading and unloading time, ensuring a seamless service.

Cargo Express is available in the Yango app's Delivery section, and it offers a variety of vehicles suitable for transporting items of large size and weight.

Besides, the feature ensures that customers will only be charged the amount shown when placing their order by providing transparent and upfront pricing.

Consumers can track the movement of their items on the Yango in-app map and receive push notifications regarding delivery status, keeping them informed at every stage of the order execution process.

Ireoluwa Obatoki, Head of Business Development for Africa at Yango Delivery, stated that the launch of Cargo Express demonstrates the company's commitment to improving urban delivery services through technology.

This creates new revenue opportunities for logistics companies' local partners and couriers while ensuring clear and transparent pricing in Africa's delivery market.

“The escalating trend of online shopping underscores the need for capable delivery services for large items. Cargo Express aims to fill this gap, offering a dependable and straightforward solution,” Obatoki added.

This feature is an addition to the array of services Yango offers. The company is into ride-hailing (Yango), light package delivery by motorbike (Yango Delivery), and food delivery options (Yango Deli), which provide a comprehensive selection of daily services in one app.

In December 2023, Yango partnered with MTN to improve the working conditions of its partnered drivers by offering drivers free data packages.

Meanwhile, in February 2024, the company increased its ride-hailing fares by 23% with a claim to support the drivers and reduce the economic challenge while providing a conducive platform for them to work and improve their lives.
