This week, a story by a Covenant University (CU) graduate on Twitter spread through Nigerian social media like wildfire.
In the long thread which was later deleted, the young man named Emmanuel Addoh recounted how he was wrongfully accused of breaking the university’s by-laws and later expelled. He eventually sued the school to court and won the case. Read the full gist below.

Unknown: Doesn't matter. Have you collected your Certificate yet?
Adooh: I asked who this is

Reading that guy's story. It feels so real!!!
Maybe I should tell the story of how I got suspended too.
It doesn't matter now that I've risen above it but Covenant University threw me into the lowest point of my life for something that wasn't my fault.

We can’t deny the fact that Covenant University is a great school.
A lot of us got jobs based on CU.
Papa loved us all dearly.
We had light and water, clean hostels and rest rooms, beautiful environment, no dust, seasoned lecturers, fine girls 😉 and boys that didn’t sag.

— Chu-Chu (@ChuChuIgbokwe) September 12, 2018
If everything I’ve read today about Covenant University is true, then the school admin. has gone beyond religious/academic discipline to severe abuse of human rights and outright abuse & molestation.
The NANS, NUC & the Ministry of Education should look into this urgently.

The battle for Lagos state
Drama in the Lagos state political scene as All Progressives Congress (APC) powerhouse Bola Tinubu endorsed Jide Sanyaolu for the upcoming 2019 gubernatorial elections.
We were all expecting that he’d support Governor Ambode for a second term.
Ambode faces impeachment over second term bid after 57 LG Chairmen loyal to Tinubu endorsed Jide Sanyaolu to represent the party(APC) for 2019 Gubernatorial election. Ambode had earlier picked a nomination form despite opposition from the party establishment pic.twitter.com/GiAd9QuIab
— seriousmata.com (@seriousmatta) September 11, 2018
This man called it by the way;
On this handle I announced some weeks ago that Tinubu and Ambode are on war path but some Okpos doubted. Now you can see the game is up for Ambo. Next time, check the handle before you spew thrash!
— Jackson Ude (@jacksonpbn) September 11, 2018
“Meeting is over. Ambode is out. Jide Sanyaolu Sanwonolu is the new governor of Lagos. All 57 local government chairman have signed his form. It’s over,” the source said.
What an audacity?
No be Lagos people go vote?
New Governor of Lagos without election?
— Tosin Olugbenga. (@TosinOlugbenga) September 11, 2018
Ambode I know how you can get back at Tinubu!
Just take down the toll gates and let it be like that Ajah one! Shebi you’re incumbent governor ?
We will vote you for third term sef

I woke up this morning to see handles that had previously supported Ambode, now castigating him & wanting him out.
What! What! Wetin dey happen? I read up & realized it seems their Oracle had spoken & shifted support to a new person. And of course, the educated sheeple must obey
— Juliet 'Kego (@julietkego) September 12, 2018

Femi Otedola’s nomination
While the Ambode vs Tinubu discussions were still ongoing, we saw this;
Breaking news: Lagos 2019 promises to be interesting. PDP offers Femi Otedola governorship ticket. He's accepted and personally confirmed to The Boss newspaper…
— Dele Momodu Ovation (@DeleMomodu) September 11, 2018
Someone called this one too;
PDP offers Femi Otedola governorship ticket, he will run against Ambode in the forth coming election.
Otedola didn't open IG &twitter accounts for the fun of it, he did not ride with the poor in Molue public transport for fun, he did all these because on his political ambition😊 pic.twitter.com/m8uE3YMr80
— Kemi Ariyo (@d_problemsolver) September 11, 2018
Femi Otedola should know security is a priority if he wants to win Lagos. The last time PDP presented a candidate with very real potential to snatch Lagos State from its landlord, that was Funsho Williams.
I don't need to finish telling the story.
— Nejeeb Bello Oyarese (@NejeebBello) September 11, 2018
If Femi Otedola actually got a ticket to contest for the Lagos State governorship position come 2019, I see him winning ahead of any other candidate.
— Wale Adetona (@iSlimfit) September 11, 2018
Femi Otedola was heavily implicated in the fuel subsidy scam where billions of naira were stolen from Nigerians
He went ahead to bribed a federal legislator and even made the audio available.
Now, he is the "best" person to govern Lagos by the "good governance: advocates *sighs
— Adebiyi Adeniran (@mrbhiyi) September 11, 2018
Femi Otedola is just not ready for the dirtiness of Naija politics. I'm waiting for when Dj Cuppy's sex video will be released or to hear that Femi's company didn't pay tax in Lagos State in 1992 . LMAO

Looks like Tinubu and Ambode have made up. I talk am abi I no talk am? Plenty activity, no movement.
— Omolola (@lolaloveandart) September 13, 2018
Lagos state governorship race is going to be interesting. Ambode may not run under APC as Lagos landlord Tinubu isn't happy with him, PDP is pushing Otedola, a billionaire to run against APC candidate. Ladies and gentlemen, grab your pop corn and enjoy the drama.
— AJALA (@UNCLE_AJALA) September 11, 2018
Tinubu may be the master strategist, but him of all people should know better than to underestimate Ambode’s power of incumbency.
Also If rumours of Otedola joining the Lagos State gubernatorial race under PDP is true, then Lagos may just be about to witness the end of an era.
— FAVOUR ONYEOZIRI (GCFR) (@Rouvafe) September 11, 2018
With Tinubu and Ambode going for each other's throat, Otedola as PDP's gubernatorial candidate in Lagos will be a sweet move. Popular name, deep pocket, a thirst for something different from Lagosians. I love this game!
— Kelvin Odanz (@Kelvin_Odanz) September 11, 2018
After we get rid of Ambode, we also need to get rid of Tinubu.

Beverly Osu’s controversial photos
Nigerian model, actress and former Big Brother Africa housemate Beverly Osu was a topic of discussion on social media this week as a result of her photos on the cover of Taylor Magazine.
Beverly Osu (@beverly_osu) on the cover of Taylor Magazine's latest issue.
What do you think about this cover? pic.twitter.com/A1P4Qpom3X
— Laila Ijeoma (@LailaIjeoma) September 11, 2018
Although people have abused sacred materials a lot including Rosaries.
But what Beverly Osu did in this shoot is outrageously disgusting.
Smoking in a seductive nun attire wit Rosary at hand?
Rosary is meant 4 prayers, Christian wont come after u tho but leave u to ur conscience pic.twitter.com/wifHf1bxPh
— King 👑 (@theDamorela) September 11, 2018
If you're okay with what Beverly Osu did, you're mad. If you're saying is her choice, she can wear whatever she's comfy with & smoke in it, you're mad. If you don't know that Beverly Osu is mad for those pictures, you're mad. If you think I should calm down, you're mad.
— AJALA (@UNCLE_AJALA) September 11, 2018
I am Catholic and i dare say that this is the Height of STUPIDITY coming from Beverly Osu.
It's a slight on what the Nuns Habit and essentially Catholicism stand for.
Why such Blatant disrespect for something that religious.
I mean why so STUPID? pic.twitter.com/t9WlKaiKB6
— AURACOOL (@TWEETORACLE) September 11, 2018
Beverly Osu is the definition of what is wrong with society.. Her portrait does not define "woke" it only portrays her Hoeism..
And using the rosary in that concept is frankly disturbing.. A really stupid human being..
Am ready.. Come at me..
— 👑Klaus🇳🇬🇺🇸 (@Nick_k1aus) September 11, 2018
It’s just art
I understand there's been a lot of anger and outrage over these photos of Beverly Osu. But I see such as misguided. This is more of photo speaks, expository photos. If we think deeper and not look at them from a religious superiority stance we'll understand the art on display!!! pic.twitter.com/MYPwBPYPDG
— Le Bonheur (@Smartnoys) September 12, 2018
Set of people that slammed MURIC for defending Hijab as symbol of Muslim women, when Falz used it in #thisisnigeria
They called it art… "Any big deal in usin Hijab to dance Shaku Shaku? the message is important."
Beverly Osu just passed a message with her photo shoot. So rest! pic.twitter.com/WXLcXiJh05

Personally I won't condemn Beverly Osu. She's trying to pass a message . She's an actress for God's sake
— YourFavOnlinePhysiotherapist (@DrOmoNiyi) September 12, 2018
I don’t understand the problem people have with this @beverly_osu post.
Na cloth she wear, no be tailor sew am?
Was this attire invented by Jesus or by religion?
If it was invented by Jesus then I have a huge problem with it.
If it was invented by religion then I don’t get. pic.twitter.com/xI0NbDLzcd
— Daddy Freeze (@DaddyFRZ) September 11, 2018
We know Beverly Osu can't try this with Hijab, but to be artistic enough, sometimes you need to go the extra mile to pass a message. I do not condemn her, rather I'm more concerned about the message she's trying to pass with this shoot. pic.twitter.com/QmYAJLINAh
— Umeh and 99 others (@UmehOMA) September 11, 2018
I see nothing wrong with that Beverly Osu's shoot..
I love it even.
Portrays how highly hypocritical religious people are.
Don't get why people are in their feelings over it.
You can insult her all you want tho.
Won't change how true her message is. Smh
— Xtra DIDI💎 (@Thic_didi) September 11, 2018
Met Gala's catholic themed event was filled with beautiful master pieces, Rihanna looked beautiful but Beverly Osu is an attention seeking washed up celebrity with no regard for people's religion
