The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) through the Youth Innovators Competition 2015 has called on young social entrepreneurs to apply for the ITU Telecom World Young Innovators Competition.

The United Nations’ specialised agency for information and communications technology is on the lookout for entrepreneurs using innovative ICT-based ideas towards encouraging entrepreneurship in local communities. Efforts of interested applicants can be towards encouraging entrepreneurs in any field, through incubation, skill building, mentorship, sharing resources and collaboration between small businesses.

What’s the catch?

You don’t have to necessarily have a running startup to apply, it’s open to both established startups as well as concept for a new startup.

Two entrepreneurs get to pitch at ITU Telecom World 2015 later in the year. In addition to a pitching opportunity, the winners would also have the opportunity to participate in workshops and get a year of mentorship as well as seed funding.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to individuals from ITU member states born between October 5, 1985 and October 5, 1997
  • Winning projects of previous Young Innovators Competitions are not eligible to be considered for an award in any Challenge of the Competition.
  • All entries, regardless of categories, must not violate any intellectual property rights of third parties
