Apple’s “Campos” AI chatbot to replace Siri

Apple is planning one of the biggest makeovers in its AI strategy yet; it’s transforming Siri into a full-blown artificial intelligence chatbot that will be built right into iPhones, iPads, and Macs later this year. The move is designed to help Apple compete more directly with established AI players like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.

According to a Bloomberg report, the revamped digital assistant — codenamed “Campos” — won’t just be a nicer voice interface. It will replace the current Siri experience entirely and support both voice and text conversations, working more like modern chatbots that can answer questions, handle tasks, and interact naturally. The update is expected to be a headline feature of the upcoming iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 releases.

Apple is reportedly powering Campos with a custom version of Google’s Gemini AI under a long-term partnership, marking an unusual turn for Apple, which typically avoids deep reliance on competitors’ tech. The company has struggled to keep Siri competitive, and this redesign is a clear signal that Apple wants to close that gap with rivals.

The new Siri is expected to use its deep integration with Apple’s operating systems to go beyond what standalone chat apps can do. Sources say it could pull information from email, photos, and other apps, summarise documents, generate content, and even suggest actions based on what’s on screen — all while preserving Apple’s emphasis on user privacy.

This overhaul matters because it fundamentally shifts Siri from a handy voice helper to a full-featured AI assistant built into Apple devices. If successful, it could reshape how millions of users interact with their gadgets, making Siri a direct competitor to ChatGPT, Google’s Bard, and other conversational AI tools.

KollegeScouts is rethinking how Nigerians get into university

Getting into a Nigerian university can feel like a lottery. Every year, millions of students compete for limited spaces in public universities, while many private institutions quietly struggle to fill their quotas. The result is a system that is confusing, emotionally draining, and stacked against students who often have the grades but not the right information.

KollegeScouts was built to fix that gap. Founded by 22-year-old engineer Fiyinfoluwa Enis and his sister, Jesugbogbo Enis, the edtech startup wants to become a digital matchmaker between Nigerian students and universities. The idea is simple: stop leaving admissions to rumours, guesswork, and blind choices.

At its core, KollegeScouts helps students make smarter, data-backed decisions about where they can realistically gain admission. Students can search and compare Nigerian universities, filter by location, tuition fees, and requirements, and get guidance based on their UTME scores, subject combinations, and profiles. Beyond search, the platform uses matching to connect students with schools where they actually stand a chance.

The idea came from personal experience. Fiyinfoluwa struggled with Nigeria’s opaque admissions process himself, but a friend’s story became the turning point. Despite scoring over 320 in UTME multiple times, she failed to gain admission for four years, not because she wasn’t qualified, but because of poor information and misaligned choices.

After starting as a manual counselling community, KollegeScouts officially launched in August 2025. Since then, over 2,000 students have signed up, with two Nigerian institutions already on board. Kenya’s High Court shuts the door on Worldcoin

It’s the end of the road for Worldcoin’s iris scans in Kenya. After months of legal pressure and regulatory scrutiny, the crypto-backed digital identity project has wiped all biometric data collected from Kenyan citizens.

The deletion follows a High Court ruling that found Worldcoin’s data collection unlawful under Kenya’s data protection laws. The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) confirmed that all iris scans and related biometric data gathered during the company’s 2023 enrolment exercise have now been erased from its systems, under regulatory supervision.

Worldcoin, co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, uses specialised “orb” devices to scan users’ irises in exchange for a digital ID and crypto tokens. In Kenya, the offer of free tokens drew massive crowds, but also raised red flags about consent, especially given how sensitive biometric data is and how little clarity existed around its use.

This matters because the court ruled that the company behind Worldcoin, Tools for Humanity, failed to properly obtain consent and skipped a legally required Data Protection Impact Assessment. In simple terms, Kenya’s judges said innovation doesn’t get a free pass when it comes to people’s personal data.

Beyond Kenya, the case adds to growing global pushback against Worldcoin’s model. Regulators in Europe and parts of Asia have also questioned the project’s approach, making Kenya’s ruling one of the clearest signals yet that digital identity startups will face tougher scrutiny if privacy safeguards don’t come first.
