TechCrunch, arguably the biggest tech site globally, will be coming to Lagos this July. The purpose is to scout for local early-stage startups that could potentially participate at TechCrunch Disrupt, San Franciso in September.
According to the local event organiser, Toks Ogun, the ‘Meetup and Pitch-Off’ event will take shape in 2 components:
- A startup tour so TechCrunch delegates can get a feel of local startups in Nigeria
- A Pitch Competition for startups who haven’t received funding or have raised moderate funding
In the end, only 3 startups will be shortlisted. First place will receive a table in Startup Alley at TechCrunch Disrupt SF in September. Second place will receive two general admission tickets to Disrupt, and third place will receive one general admission ticket.
Further details of the Pitch-Off event will be announced in June.
