Startup Profile: DevLess — build custom app/website backends in minutes

The backend for an app or website is one of the most critical functionalities in the race to build scalable products. But building one is often so time consuming that (full-stack) developers don’t have enough time to work on the equally important, and more consumer-facing, user interface (front-end).

But by providing a web platform that simplifies the process, Julius Odai and Edmond Mensah are looking to make life a lot easier for developers.

Launched on the 19th of September 2016, DevLess is a platform that allows developers build backends for their web and mobile applications by piecing together plug-and-play backend modules.

According to the Ghanaian-based founders, the platform can be used as a standalone backend or with existing backend frameworks like Ruby on Rails, Laravel, Django and JavaScript Frameworks.

However, as much as the concept is scalable, it isn’t exclusive to DevLess. Other platforms that help developers quickly build backends with little or no coding already exist. However, the founders pride themselves in their platform delivering results in “less than 10 minutes”.
