10Alytics is highlighting the role of product operations, business analysis and data-driven execution in helping technology and logistics businesses improve delivery  workflows across Africa.

As e-commerce and digital commerce continue to expand across sub-Saharan Africa, logistics platforms face operational challenges including order cancellations, unpredictable delivery windows and fragmented communication between merchants, carriers and customers.

10Alytics says a stronger connection between product development and day-to day operations can help businesses identify these challenges earlier and translate operational requirements into software and process improvements.

Usman Amalare, Product Operations Leader and Business Analyst at 10Alytics, said  logistics technology requires close coordination between digital systems and the physical environments in which delivery services operate.

“Logistics in emerging markets is fundamentally an information transfer problem before it is a movement problem,” Amalare said. “When an order drops in lastmile delivery, it is rarely because a bike wasn’t available. It’s usually because the merchant’s inventory state didn’t sync with the carrier’s dispatch logic, or the user’s location feedback was interpreted differently by the software than by the rider on the street.”

According to 10Alytics, product operations can provide a link between business processes, operational teams and engineering functions by identifying points of friction across the customer and delivery journey.
The company says this approach involves examining end-to end data flows and operational workflows before translating identified problems into product and engineering requirements.

“Standard Agile development often treats product features as isolated outputs, a new dispatch button, an updated merchant dashboard,” Amalare said. “Product operations acts as the connective tissue. It looks at end-to-end data pipelines, translating real-world operational failure points directly into engineering requirements.”

10Alytics says organisations can also benefit from applying Agile methodologies to operational workflows, particularly where product teams need to coordinate software development with processes involving merchants, delivery personnel and customers.

The company maintains that improving the quality and accessibility of operational data should  precede the deployment of increasingly complex automation systems.

“The temptation for tech platforms is to solve operational chaos with complex automation,” Amalare said. “But automation on top of an unoptimized workflow just automates failure at a higher velocity. Before you build an AI route optimizer, you need basic data accuracy, clear merchant handoff protocols, and operational visibility that ground teams can actually use in real time.”

In recent deployments referenced by Amalare, the operational frameworks used achieved a reported 30% increase in business process efficiency and a 90% match rate between user stories and strategic execution goals. The figures are based on the company’s stated results and should be independently verified.

The approach comes as African logistics and commerce businesses increasingly examine operational efficiency alongside customer acquisition and growth. For companies managing physical delivery networks, product decisions can affect processes across merchants, dispatch teams, riders and customers.

10Alytics says product operations can help bring these functions together by ensuring that business objectives, software development and operational requirements are considered as part of a connected workflow.

Amalare said the next phase of growth for logistics technology companies will require closer alignment between product strategy and operational execution.

“We are moving past the era where logistics startups can win on sheer volume,” he said. “The companies that survive the next decade will be those that master data-driven product execution, aligning business strategy, software architecture, and ground operations into a single, predictable delivery engine.”

Through its work in product operations and business analysis, 10Alytics says it is focused on helping organisations use structured data, product processes and operational insights to improve how technology solutions are designed and executed.
