Nigeria is the leading nation in global AI use for learning and entrepreneurship, according to the “Our Life with AI” 2025 report by Google and Ipsos.
The report, in its third successive year of partnership between tech giant Google and Ipsos, with 21,000 interviews across 21 countries conducted with the sole aim of understanding public attitudes toward AI.
The top 3 reasons for AI usage among respondents include;
- To help you learn something new or understand a complex topic (74%)
- To assist with your work (70%)
- For entertainment or exploration (66%)
These findings are a result of a survey conducted by Ipsos on behalf of Google between September 22 and October 10, 2025. For this survey, a sample of roughly 1,000 adults 18+ representative of the online population of each country in Brazil, India, Mexico, Nigeria, South Africa, Argentina, and the United Arab Emirates was also interviewed using Ipsos online panels.
Nigeria leads the way
The result revealed that 88% of Nigerian adults use AI chatbots for various reasons, including education, business, and entrepreneurship.
The data shows an impressive 18% improvement from last year’s figures, indicating that citizens of the West African giants aren’t slowing the remarkable rate of AI adoption—signalling an impressive future for the technology, especially given the country’s young population.
Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Communications & Public Affairs Manager for Google in West Africa, says, “It’s inspiring to see how Nigerians are creatively and purposefully using AI to unlock new opportunities for learning, growth, and economic empowerment.”
He believes “the report doesn’t just show high adoption rates; it tells the story of a nation that is actively shaping its future with technology, using AI as a tool to accelerate progress and achieve its ambitions,” stressing that Google is “committed to ensuring that AI remains a helpful and accessible tool for everyone.
