  • PAIX Data Centres has announced a state-of-the-art data facility construction in Dakar, Senegal, its latest move in expanding across Africa.
  • The data centre leverages four submarine cables connected to Dakar (ACE, MainOne, SAT3, SHARE) to deliver high-speed Internet and robust connectivity.
  • This advanced infrastructure will ensure scalable, secure, and energy-efficient solutions for businesses, ISPs, and content networks.
  • This expansion aligns with PAIX’s mission to strengthen Africa's digital infrastructure and position Senegal as a tech hub.

The data centre, which would offer approximately 918 m² of usable space and critical power of up to 1.2 megawatts, incorporates cutting-edge infrastructure designed to cater to a wide range of clients, including enterprises, Internet service providers (ISPs), and content delivery networks.

Notable features include advanced cooling systems, robust security protocols, and scalable power solutions, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability. These measures make the facility well-suited to support Senegal’s expanding digital economy.

Similarly, in May 2024, PAIX announced its expanded 1.2MW data facility in Ghana after securing a $20 million equity investment from Africa50 in 2022.

The expansion comes as Senegal continues to emerge as a prominent technology and innovation hub in West Africa. The country has been investing in its digital economy, with the government and private sector working together to improve Internet penetration, tech skills, and infrastructure amidst its constant Internet shutdowns

This move aligns with PAIX Data Centres’ larger vision of supporting Africa’s digital transformation. With existing operations in other African cities, the company aims to bridge the infrastructure gap and enable businesses to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

This expansion aligns with broader industry efforts in providing localised data solutions. For instance, companies like Citidata have launched data centers aimed at bringing cloud services closer to Nigerian SMEs, offering reliable, fast, and affordable options.

As demand for data services continues to rise, PAIX’s strategic investments are expected to create opportunities for innovation, enhance service delivery, and contribute to Africa’s position in the global digital economy.
