  • TikTok has expanded its Add to Music App feature to 19 new countries, including South Africa.
  • The new markets for the TikTok feature include countries in Asia, America, Europe, and Africa. South Africa is the first African nation where the feature is currently accessible, out of 21 countries worldwide.

First launched in November 2023 for users in the United States and the United Kingdom, the Add to Music App feature enables TikTok users to save songs from the platform to their preferred music streaming services.

TikTok and global streaming platforms, including Amazon Music and Spotify, partnered to create Add to Music App.

Other countries where this feature is available include Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Ireland, Sweden, Thailand, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Argentina, Colombia, the Netherlands, Turkey, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Notably, South Africa is the first African country to benefit from the new feature.

The feature is available to eligible users as an "Add Song" button in the For You Feed. Users can select from the music apps installed on their phones and add the chosen song to their preferred music streaming service by clicking on it.

According to a report, in early 2023, TikTok had over 11 million South African users. In addition to improving users' immersive experience on TikTok, this new feature will help streaming platforms gain more traction and engagement.
