Akin Alabi has announced via Twitter that in the coming weeks, he will be stepping down as CEO of Nairabet.

The tweet reads; “In a few weeks, I will be resigning as CEO of @NairaBET so I can fully concentrate on my campaign to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives. If I lose, my seat will be waiting for me at the head office. Politics is not a do or die affair.”

The founder of Nigeria’s premier online sports betting platform says he is leaving helms of affair at the company to focus on his political ambition.

In April 2018, Akin Alabi formally declared his interest to run for office in 2019 via his blog. According to the post, he will be contesting for a seat in the Federal House of Representatives in Oyo State under the aegis of the All Progressive Congress (APC) political party. The post also said intra party activities leading up to the primaries had begun at the time.

And to contest for elections, moral code demands an aspirant quit their job to concentrate and prevent a clash of interests.

In an interview with Techpoint, the businessman and marketer extraordinaire said he fell in love with politics as a child because of influence from his father.
