The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is calling on startups using data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence to provide solutions that have the potential to benefit humankind.
Through its Innovation Fund, UNICEF will be providing up to $100,000 equity-free investment to for-profit startups in any of the 190 countries that the international organisation is present in. The fund is intended for startups to validate and test their prototypes while getting them to a stage where the companies have a proof that the solutions work.
To be considered for the equity-free fund, your startup must have a working, open source prototype or willing to make it open-source. Also, the startup must have promising results and potential for profitability as well as success in the data science space.
The fund is interested in startups that are applying data science in new, groundbreaking ways that are scalable, globally applicable and are for the good of humanity. Interestingly, the startup doesn’t have to have a ready product as companies with products that are in the early stage can also apply.
The Innovation Fund is not only providing investment, but it would also be working with a network of mentors that would help the startups develop their business model and strategy to grow their companies.
