- Nigerian civil servants receive training on how to use AI
Nigeria’s public servants are officially getting an AI upgrade

Nigeria’s government has rolled out a programme called AI Government Campus, in partnership with Google and Apolitical.
It’s designed to give civil servants and government leaders training in artificial intelligence, not just theory, but how to use AI tools in public service, actually.
Why is it happening? Officials believe that AI can streamline government work, boost productivity, and deliver better outcomes for citizens.
As Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, put it: AI should become “native to our civil service.” Despite concerns that there are more urgent problems to solve first, Google argues the bigger risk is missing the opportunity to modernise.
What does it cover? The training will be delivered via an online learning management system offered by Apolitical, and will include modules on AI fundamentals, ethical frameworks, and leadership in AI for government settings.
Netflix may win over Africa’s sports streaming market if it extends its new pivot into the continent

Entertainment giants Netflix is looking to expand its foothold in the media space, and this time around, it is looking at moving into live football streaming. Well-known for its scripted series and movies, Netflix began its foray into live sports streaming over the past year, testing the waters with major live broadcasts, documentaries, and high-profile exhibitions.
An exclusive three-year streaming deal for select NFL games was sealed in 2024 before it then secured a ten-year exclusive global rights to WWE’s flagship weekly wrestling show, including event streaming like NXT and SmackDown. By March 2025, they had an exclusive stream of the 2026 MLB season opener as part of a three-year deal worth over $220 million.
Netflix’s sports experiments paid off, driving large short-term signups and viewer spikes, an indicator that live sports can attract users and younger audiences, but what would Netflix’s sports streaming landscape look like in Africa?
This development is particularly something interesting to watch out for, considering that Netflix will be going toe-to-toe with established media firms who have held sway in this space for a long time.

Paxos accidentally mints $300 trillion in PayPal stablecoins, more than double the world’s GDP

Per Technext, something unbelievable happened in the crypto space on Wednesday when Stablecoin issuer Paxos reportedly minted 300 trillion tokens of PayPal’s PYUSD on the Ethereum blockchain.
The company quickly put out a tweet claiming the mistake happened during an internal transfer and that the root cause has been addressed.
“At 3:12 PM EST, Paxos mistakenly minted excess PYUSD as part of an internal transfer. Paxos immediately identified the error and burned the excess PYUSD.
This was an internal technical error. There is no security breach. Customer funds are safe. We have addressed the root cause,” the tweet read.
Using an estimate of 1$=1PYUSD, 300 trillion tokens will be equivalent to $300 trillion, an amount more than twice the world’s annual GDP, standing at $120 trillion by IMF estimates.
