Twitter, yesterday decided to kill the star icon for “favourite” and replace it with the hearts icon for “like.” So now users will no longer be able to favourite a tweet anymore instead you “like” a tweet.

“The heart, in contrast, is a universal symbol that resonates across languages, cultures, and time zones. The heart is more expressive, enabling you to convey a range of emotions and easily connect with people. And in our tests, we found that people loved it.” The company remarks on its blog post .

The new feature, which first debuted on Periscope,  the company’s live streaming app is will also be on Vine, the company’s six seconds video app.

The hearts icon can now be seen on Twitter for iOS and Android, twitter.com, TweetDeck, Twitter for Windows 10, and on Tweets across the Internet, as well as on the Vine Android app and website. The new feature  is also said to hit Vine for iOS and Twitter for Mac soon.
