Nollywood Wins Big! Circuits’ top-grossing producers earn more after initial licensing fees.

Circuits, Africa’s leading virtual cinema and digital entertainment platform, which has rapidly grown to become Nigeria’s largest Virtual Cinema and Transactional Video-on-Demand (TVOD) streaming platform, has announced that at least four Nollywood producers with content on its platform have received additional payouts on top of their minimum guarantees and licensing fees. These earnings are tied directly to the performance of their films, with producers entitled to a significant revenue split for as long as the films continue to generate income.

Launched in December 2024, Circuits has recorded remarkable growth in just eight months, with millions of unique streams, attracting viewers from over 170 countries across every continent and expanding its library beyond Nollywood to include Francophone African and Ugandan films. This growth, which is expected to further accelerate in the coming weeks, solidifies the platform’s position as the fastest-growing hub for African storytelling worldwide.

This milestone represents more than just payouts; it signals a paradigm shift in how African content creators are valued. By ensuring that producers share in the ongoing success of their films, Circuits is redefining industry standards and building a more sustainable creative economy for filmmakers and other content producers.

Imade Bibowei-Osuobeni, COO of Circuits, highlighted the significance of this development:

“This model, where films keep earning for their creators, is rare in Africa’s streaming landscape, and Circuits’ move sets a precedent for how producers should be compensated in the digital age. It’s a sign of a maturing industry that rewards creativity, protects intellectual property, and fuels reinvestment in African storytelling. Considering the significant growth we have achieved in just eight months post-launch, we are very excited about the enormous possibilities that lie ahead for the creative economy.”

She further emphasised Circuits’ commitment to fair compensation and global distribution:

“This was always the vision: to make sure money consistently goes into the hands of those who do the hard work. With a content protection system like no other, Circuits is positioned to distribute African content globally, protect creators’ IP, and ensure their work is fairly and transparently monetised. Producers can now look forward to not just upfront payments but continuous returns as their films succeed”

”Since June 2025, producers have had direct access to their back-end data, allowing them to validate sales reports and review detailed sales analytics, in addition to the monthly reports they have received since the platform’s inception. This transparency reinforces Circuits’ promise of trust, accountability, and fairness” – she added

With its rapid growth, content protection strategy and revenue-sharing model, in addition to minimum guarantees and licensing fees, Circuits is setting new standards for Africa’s film industry, championing transparency, empowering creators, and strengthening the continent’s creative economy. Circuits is available on web, mobile apps and all major smart TV brands.
