Timothy Dake and Uduma Glory, the Nigerian tech duo behind the first Hausa GPT, have launched Kofounda, a revolutionary voice-powered website creation platform that allows users to build professional websites using simple voice commands.
The startup, operating under Zeustek Global and ICT Solutions, was recently selected as the only African winner of Microsoft’s Generative AI Challenge, securing $250,000 in funding. This achievement positions Kofounda to address a critical gap in Nigeria’s digital economy, where over 41 million small and medium enterprises lack online presence.
Breaking Down Digital Barriers
“Most Nigerian business owners want websites but find traditional builders too complex or expensive,” said Timothy Dake, CEO and technical lead at Zeustek Global. “Kofounda eliminates these barriers by letting users simply speak their vision into reality.”
The platform leverages advanced AI to interpret voice commands in multiple Nigerian languages, automatically generating responsive websites complete with content, images, and e-commerce functionality. Users can say “Create a restaurant website with menu and online ordering” and watch their site materialize within minutes.
Co-founder Uduma Glory, who leads design and frontend development, explained the local focus: “We built Kofounda specifically for African entrepreneurs who may not be tech-savvy but have brilliant business ideas. Voice is universal – everyone can speak their dreams.”
Proven Track Record in AI Innovation
Zeustek Global’s credibility stems from their groundbreaking work on Jummai, the first GPT model trained in Hausa language. The project, developed for Global Integrated Education Volunteers (GIEVA), demonstrated the team’s ability to create culturally relevant AI solutions for African markets.
“Our experience with Jummai taught us how to make AI truly accessible to African users,” Dake noted. “Kofounda applies those same principles to web development, making it as easy as having a conversation.”
The Microsoft grant validates this approach, with the tech giant recognizing Kofounda’s potential to democratize digital presence across Africa’s rapidly growing startup ecosystem.
Market Impact and Future Plans
Nigeria’s digital economy contributed $18.44 billion to GDP in 2023, yet most SMEs remain offline due to technical and financial barriers. Kofounda targets this underserved market with affordable, voice-driven solutions that require no coding knowledge.
The platform launches with support for English, Pidgin, Yoruba, and Hausa, with plans to expand across West Africa by 2026. Early beta testing shows users can create functional websites 10 times faster than traditional methods.
“We’re not just building websites – we’re building digital inclusion,” Glory emphasized. “Every voice command brings another African business online.”
Kofounda will be available at kofounda.com.ng starting November 2025, with pricing designed for African markets. The startup plans to use the Microsoft funding to scale operations and expand language support across the continent.
