Maiaddy, the Nigerian location technology company behind the Loccode system, today launched Maimaps, a navigation platform that lets anyone in Nigeria search, share, and navigate to any location using a short, unique location code called a Loccode.
Maimaps is available now on iOS, Android, and the web. Developer APIs and SDKs are also live at launch.
The Problem
Sharing a location in Nigeria is still harder than it should be. Most Nigerians rely on dropped pins, voice notes, and landmark directions to communicate where they are. Delivery riders call customers two or three times before finding a street. Businesses cannot agree on a single, consistent way to list their location across a website, an invoice, and a delivery platform.
The root cause is structural: Nigeria lacks a reliable, standardised digital address system. The mapping tools most people use were not built for Nigeria and do not reflect how Nigerian locations are actually described or found.
What Maimaps Does
Maimaps works like any navigation app search for a road, a business, or a landmark, and get directions. What makes it different is the Loccode.
A Loccode is a short alphanumeric code, for example, LA8A 1FU that maps to a specific street in Nigeria. Every street in the country has one. Anyone can type or paste a Loccode into Maimaps and navigate directly to that exact location, with no ambiguity.
Built for Three Audiences at Once
Consumers – download the app, find their Loccode, share it, navigate with it.
Businesses a single, stable location identity that works consistently across every customer touchpoint.
Developers – a free API and SDK to build location features into any Nigerian digital product, from logistics tools to fintech applications to emergency response systems.
Quote from the Founder
“Nigeria is one of the most dynamic economies in the world, but for too long, the inability to reliably identify and reach a location has created friction that slows everything down. We built Maimaps for every Nigerian who has ever had to describe their location in a voice note.”
– Obinna Onyejeli, Founder & CEO, Maiaddy
