Korrency, a modern cross-border payments platform serving people who send and receive money between the UK, Africa, and beyond, has officially launched in the United Kingdom. This marks an important milestone in Korrency’s mission to make international payments simpler, more transparent, and more accessible for the global community navigating life across countries.
The UK remains one of the world’s most active remittance hubs, home to millions who support family, education, healthcare, and personal commitments abroad. Yet many continue to face high fees, uncertain timelines, and unclear charges. Korrency was created to offer a better, more user-friendly alternative.
A Smarter Way to Move Money Across Borders
UK users can now send money to multiple African countries—including Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon, and more—directly through the Korrency app. Transfers are designed to be fast, with many corridors completing within minutes. Actual timing may vary by receiving institution, partner availability, currency, and any required compliance checks.
Eligible users can also access GBP and EUR account details (virtual IBANs), enabling freelancers, remote workers, and families to receive international payments directly into their Korrency wallet. These account services are provided through Korrency’s licensed Electronic Money Institution (EMI) partner, authorised and supervised by the relevant financial authorities in the UK and EU.
Once funds are received, users can exchange currencies at competitive, upfront rates. Korrency charges no transfer fees on eligible corridors, and all pricing is shown before the transaction is confirmed.
Real-time updates in the app let users monitor the progress of their payments for greater clarity and control.
Security, Trust, and Regulatory Alignment
Korrency is registered with FINTRAC as a Money Services Business (MSB) in Canada and maintains a robust AML/CTF program across its operations.
In the UK and Europe, all regulated accounts and payment services are provided by Korrency’s licensed EMI partner. This ensures customer funds and payment services operate within the appropriate regulatory and safeguarding frameworks.
Korrency uses enterprise-grade encryption, secure infrastructure, and ongoing security monitoring to help protect customer data and transactions.
“Our goal at Korrency is simple—make cross-border payments clearer, fairer, and more human,” said Sam Egbeocha, CEO of Korrency. “People deserve to understand where their money is, what it costs, and when it arrives. Korrency delivers that transparency.”
Why It Matters
According to the World Bank, UK residents sent over $10.8 billion abroad in 2022 alone. For many households, these payments support essential needs back home—yet costs, delays, and a lack of transparency often reduce the value that reaches loved ones.
Korrency offers an alternative designed for real-world needs:
Competitive, upfront exchange rates
No Korrency transfer fees on eligible corridors
Simple onboarding for UK and Canadian users
Fast processing times, subject to compliance checks and receiving institutions
Clear, transparent payment journeys
UK users can fund their wallet via local bank transfers or supported debit cards, while Canadian users continue benefiting from Interac deposits.

New users can download the Korrency app, complete a quick identity verification, and begin sending or receiving money in just a few steps. Features, corridors, and eligibility for GBP/EUR account details may vary by country and regulatory requirements.
The Korrency app is available on App Store and Google Play.
