Skosh has officially launched as a global dating and friendship platform built around culture, identity, and belonging.
As more people live, work, and study outside their countries of origin, traditional dating apps often fail to account for cultural context — such as shared background, language, values, and lived experiences. Skosh was created to address this gap by placing culture at the center of how people connect.
Unlike conventional dating platforms that prioritize proximity or appearance, Skosh allows users to discover matches based on home country, cultural layers, language, and cross-cultural curiosity. The platform supports both romantic and platonic connections, making it relevant not only for dating but also for building meaningful friendships.
Skosh is designed for immigrants, expats, travelers, and globally minded locals who want to form deeper connections rooted in identity rather than surface-level matching. Users can choose to connect with people from similar cultural backgrounds or explore cross-cultural relationships across cities and countries.
According to founder Philip Tinuoye, the idea for Skosh came from observing how difficult it can be to form meaningful connections abroad without shared cultural understanding.
“Culture shapes how people communicate, relate, and connect,” Tinuoye said. “When someone understands where you’re coming from, conversations feel more natural and relationships form more authentically.”
Skosh is available globally on iOS and Android. The company plans to continue expanding its culture-first features while building a global community focused on belonging and connection.
The mission behind the platform is simple: to help people feel at home anywhere.
