The Interswitch Developer Community recently hosted the latest edition of its Coded Meetup, an immersive gathering designed to bring together senior developers, engineers, product builders, and technology enthusiasts for an evening of meaningful connection, knowledge-sharing, and community building. The event was held at the Interswitch Innovation Hub in Lagos.
Unlike conventional tech meetups driven by back-to-back technical sessions, the Coded Meetup adopted a more human-centered and relaxed approach, encouraging participants to “Code, Connect, and Chill.” The aim was simple: get Africa’s leading tech thinkers off their screens and into conversations that spark collaboration, mentorship, and innovation.
Speaking at the event, industry leaders from across the continent, including Ayomide Awe, Chief Technical Officer at Termii; Oche Omale, Divisional Head, Engineering, Payment Processing & Switching (Interswitch Purepay); Opeyemi Folorunsho, Vice President, Engineering Research & Development, Moniepoint; and Abdul-Hafiz Ibrahim, Divisional Head, Engineering, Commercial Inclusion (Interswitch Inclusio), shared insights during two panel sessions that anchored the evening.
The discussions touched on critical themes such as distributed systems, artificial intelligence, solution scalability, and the ethical implications of AI adoption. Across sessions, a unifying message emerged: Africa’s next phase of technological advancement will be driven by collaboration over competition.
Mentorship also featured prominently in the conversations, with speakers emphasizing its role in strengthening Africa’s developer pipeline. They highlighted the need for leaders to create access for emerging talent and for developers to use community-driven learning as a tool to build a more inclusive and resilient tech ecosystem.
Beyond the panels, the meetup maintained a vibrant and social atmosphere. Attendees exchanged ideas, discussed product experiences, shared challenges from past projects, and bonded over shared passions. The energy underscored a growing need for more informal, connection-first gatherings within the African tech spaces where developers engage not just as professionals, but as people building a shared digital future.
Through initiatives like the Coded Meetup, Interswitch continues to demonstrate its commitment to empowering tech talent across Africa. The Interswitch Developer Community actively champions mentorship, collaboration, and innovation, providing a platform that fuels knowledge exchange and supports sustainable growth across the fintech and broader technology ecosystems.
By nurturing communities where developers can learn, grow, and connect, Interswitch is reinforcing its vision of shaping Africa’s digital story, not merely through code, but through the strength of the connections behind it.
