In bustling cities like Abuja, balancing work with everyday chores (cooking, laundry) can be overwhelming. Our Haven, founded in 2022 by software engineer Godswill Okokon, offers a much needed helping hand to users with not enough time for quality service. The app “makes healthy living effortless,” bringing nutritious meals and laundry services under one platform.

Godswill describes the service as designed to “make your life easier,” so users can savour chef-curated, freshly prepared meals tailored to their unique lifestyles and dietary needs—whether that means managing long hours at work, navigating health-conscious choices, or supporting specific wellness goals.

Alongside healthy food, Our Haven provides laundry services, taking off another burdensome but necessary task from users plates. The app allows users to focus on what truly matters in life. In essence, Our Haven aims to turn daily chores into a seamless, time-saving experience for Nigerian households.

Tackling  challenges and chores

Our Haven was born to solve three common pain points: poor access to healthy food, lack of affordable nutrition guidance, and unreliable laundry service. Our Haven builds on this model with its own quick pickup-and-drop service.

In Nigeria, shifting work patterns have deepened lifestyle and nutrition challenges, 1 in 4 Nigerians aged 30–45 in urban cities live with chronic conditions like hypertension or diabetes, yet 90% receive no structured meal support and over 70% report stress-related symptoms without using any structured wellness plan. Urban Nigerians with lifestyle conditions juggle 4–6 separate wellness tools, showing a clear need for a unified solution like Our Haven. Working mums spend just 3-5 hours daily on weekday meals, often relying on unhealthy options.  Our Haven’s chef-cooked meals, delivered daily, target this problem by making nutrition convenient. At the same time, the app connects users to dietitians for guidance, a service almost unheard of at an affordable price in Nigeria. By combining meal delivery with expert support, Our Haven steps into a clear gap left by other food and wellness apps.

Key Features at a Glance

Our Haven’s mobile app is built around a few core features that streamline wellness tasks:

  • Personalized Meal Plans : Users can pre-order meals or set up recurring meal plans tailored to their fitness and health goals.

  • Nutrition & Wellness Chat: Beyond meal orders, the app provides free access to dietitians and health coaches. Users can ask questions about diet, allergies, or meal prep and get expert advice – a form of personalized nutrition counseling bundled into the service.
  • On-Demand Laundry Pickup & Delivery: At the tap of a button, customers schedule home pickup of dirty laundry; the app guarantees the clothes are washed, ironed, and neatly folded for same-day or next-day delivery . This saves users the hassle of laundromat visits.
  • Gift Cards and Additional Conveniences: Customers can send Our Haven gift cards, digital tokens that can be used for any of Our Haven’s services, to family and friends. All deliveries also come in eco-friendly packaging.

These features all center on saving the user time and worry. As the app description notes, Our Haven handles “everyday tasks that consume your time” so customers can focus on other priorities .

Strong Growth and Self-Funded Traction

Since its launch, Our Haven has seen rapid uptake in Abuja.

The team reports having completed over 22,000 deliveries and reaching roughly ₦92 million in annual recurring revenue – all without any outside funding.

The startup runs on a 20-person team of developers, designers, chefs, nutritionists, and operations staff. (Godswill often points out that every member is a founder/contributor, meaning they share both vision and responsibility.)

This growth is impressive given its bootstrapped model and all profits are being reinvested into operations and marketing. By focusing on core service quality and word-of-mouth, the founders have scaled quickly in Abuja’s market of busy professionals and students.

The idea for Our Haven started humbly in 2022. Godswill Okokon began by testing demand with nothing more than a spreadsheet, listing meal plans, laundry rates, and manually coordinating with a few early users in Abuja.

By late 2022, Our Haven launched on iOS and Android, attracting early adopters from his network of tech-savvy professionals. Each satisfied user became a walking advertisement, and through steady growth, Our Haven was bootstrapped to profitability.

The founder behind Our Haven

Godswill Okokon is a technologist and entrepreneur who believes deeply that wellness should feel personal, trusted, and within reach for everyone

Born and raised in Calabar, Nigeria, he grew up surrounded by a culture that values community and care, something that now shapes his work every day.

Before founding Our Haven, a profitable tech-enabled wellness platform offering holistic care and special meal plans, Godswill built products and scaled teams across the UK health and tech space. He currently leads engineering at Bearable, the UK’s top health app with over 900,000 users, and has previously worked with Analog Republic, a London-based studio known for crafting thoughtful digital experiences, and Ecoeats, a sustainability-focused food delivery startup based in Glasgow.

With a background in computer science and years spent in the React Native community, Godswill’s journey sits at the intersection of technology and human care. Our Haven was born from that same place: a vision to make everyday wellness simpler, warmer, and built around real lives.

Looking Ahead: Expansion and Impact

With solid traction in Abuja, Godswill Okokon’s vision is to replicate the model across Nigeria , starting with Lagos and Port Harcourt — and eventually roll out to other African cities. He believes the core problem (time-poor, health-conscious urbanites) is the same continent-wide. Our Haven is already experimenting with local hubs and franchises to prepare for multi-city operations. Beyond geography, the team plans to deepen the wellness side of the platform: more specialized diets (for diabetes, hypertension, etc.), mental health tips, and tie-ins with gyms or health clinics.
