Strategic partnership aims to enhance financial services and digital solutions for Nigerian pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia.

UmrahCash, a pioneering fintech company specializing in pilgrimage services, today announced a strategic partnership with the Association for Hajj and Umrah Operators of Nigeria (AHUON) to revolutionize the pilgrimage experience for Nigerian Muslims traveling to Saudi Arabia. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishes a comprehensive framework for collaboration focused on enhancing financial services, product development, and educational support for pilgrims.

The partnership addresses critical challenges faced by Nigerian pilgrims, particularly access to local currency and digital financial services while in Saudi Arabia. Through this collaboration, UmrahCash will leverage its innovative UmrahCash platform and technical expertise, while AHUON will provide industry knowledge and access to its extensive network of operators across Nigeria.

“This partnership represents a significant milestone in our mission to modernize the pilgrimage experience,” said William Phelps, CEO of UmrahCash. “By combining our technological solutions with AHUON’s deep industry expertise and network, we can provide Nigerian pilgrims with seamless, secure financial services that enhance their spiritual journey.”

The collaboration will focus on four key areas: expanding financial services infrastructure to improve pilgrims’ access to local currency in Saudi Arabia; developing innovative products and services that leverage both organizations’ expertise; implementing joint marketing campaigns to raise global awareness of enhanced pilgrimage services; and providing comprehensive training and education programs for pilgrims, service providers, and relevant stakeholders.

Mal. Haruna Ismail, Vice-President of AHUON, emphasized the partnership’s potential impact: “Nigerian pilgrims deserve world-class services that support their spiritual journey. This partnership with UmrahCash will bring cutting-edge financial technology to our community, making the pilgrimage experience more convenient and secure for thousands of Nigerian Muslims.”

The MoU establishes a framework for ongoing collaboration without binding financial obligations, allowing both organizations to explore innovative solutions while maintaining operational flexibility. The agreement becomes effective immediately upon signing and remains in force unless terminated by either party with 30 days’ written notice.

AHUON, representing Nigeria’s largest network of Hajj and Umrah operators, brings decades of industry experience and deep understanding of pilgrims’ needs. UmrahCash contributes advanced financial technology solutions specifically designed for the unique requirements of pilgrimage travel.

The partnership is expected to benefit not only Nigerian pilgrims but also contribute to the broader digital transformation of pilgrimage services across West Africa.
