As global discussions around sustainability and clean technology gain momentum, Africa’s electric vehicle (EV) movement is progressing from ambition to action.
At the Lagos Startup Expo 2.0, one of the panel discussions will address this topic directly: “The Future of Africa’s EV Market.” This session will focus on how Africa, specifically Nigeria, can forge a unique path toward electric mobility.
We are excited to announce that Adetayo Bamiduro, Co-founder and CEO of MAX, will be speaking on this panel.
Adetayo studied computer science at the University of Ibadan, where he built one of Nigeria’s first mobility platforms. He moved on to build a stellar career as a software engineer, product manager, and management consultant at leading companies such as the UAC Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers, NLNG (a Shell subsidiary), Konga.com, and Dalberg.
He delivered a production optimisation platform that generated $100M in revenue in Year 1 of operation. Adetayo studied for his MBA at the MIT Sloan School and London Business School from 2013 to 2015.
With a decade of experience at the intersection of technology, mobility, and sustainability, Adetayo offers a rare insider’s perspective on what it truly takes to scale electric vehicle adoption in Africa.
This panel will go beyond hype and confront the hard realities and try to answer the following questions: What infrastructure is truly required to support EVs in Nigeria? Can local startups compete in a capital-intensive, hardware-driven market? Who are the likely funders in this ecosystem, and where is the money flowing? Are current government policies facilitating or hindering EV adoption? And most importantly, can EVs be adapted to Nigeria’s challenges, such as inconsistent power supply, rugged terrain, and economic volatility?
Drawing on his firsthand experience driving MAX’s mission to provide affordable, sustainable transportation solutions across Africa, including its line of electric motorcycles, Adetayo will share invaluable insights about the progress made so far, the gaps that remain, and the partnerships needed to move forward.
The panel is a must-attend for anyone working in the transportation and logistics sector, clean energy, tech policy, investors, and ecosystem enablers working behind the scenes to build the next chapter of mobility in Africa, and anyone with interests in the EV space.
