In a world where digital skills are indispensable, Digitutors, a leading EdTech company, has emerged as one of the innovative players providing online tech education as an alternative to traditional education for students. Founded by visionary business leader, Olaniyi Olamiju, as a digital technology skills learning hub, the company has expanded from its African roots to North America. It is now poised to enter the European market.
During the early days of the pandemic, when tens of millions of Nigerian children were forced to stay at home, Digitutors' CEO, Olaniyi, recognised the opportunity to build an EdTech company. Passionate about teaching digital skills to schoolchildren, he turned his vision into reality during the lockdown.
‘At its inception, Digitutors was an idea that came to me during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown, when students and teachers were confined to their homes, and schools were closed due to the pandemic,’ says Olaniyi. ‘I saw the urgent need for a technological solution to bridge the gap between teachers and students, facilitating learning and teaching regardless of distance. Over time, and in response to growing client demand, our offerings evolved from academic subjects to digital technology skills such as website development, coding and robotics, UI/UX and graphic design, video editing, and more, capturing about 11% of the market share.’
The company has experienced rapid growth since the COVID-19 lockdown but faces stiff competition from other EdTech firms. Despite the intense competition, Digitutors stands out by offering affordable solutions without compromising on quality.

‘We use technology to keep costs low while maintaining quality. For example, we use virtual platforms to cut overheads and design flexible, scalable courses that can be delivered online in real-time by a tutor. Since our launch in August 2020, Digitutors has provided over 15,500 hours of paid and unpaid virtual tutoring to clients across Africa, North America, and Europe. We also offer scholarships and financial aid to support underserved students, ensuring inclusivity. Our focus is to make digital education accessible and impactful without reducing its quality.’
As technology evolves rapidly, Digitutors has remained relevant by staying abreast of industry trends, collaborating with tech professionals, and integrating feedback from learners and educators. Each year, the company reviews its curriculum to align with global STEM education standards, adopting emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and machine learning. By providing project-based learning, it ensures students acquire skills relevant to the latest developments. It also partners with key industry stakeholders to source the most up-to-date learning resources and kits.
Reflecting on the success stories and notable achievements of students who have benefited from the Digitutors platform, the CEO shared:
‘We’ve had remarkable outcomes from our students. Many, after completing our courses, have secured internship opportunities as video editors, web developers, graphic designers, and front-end designers. Notably, some students in Canada who completed our robotics and coding classes went on to win STEM competitions in their schools, earning scholarships as a result. Due to our classes, we’ve also received positive feedback and testimonials from parents and guardians about their children’s growing interest in technology and digital literacy.
A few years after launching Digitutors, it has become a lifeline for many students, offering an all-in-one platform for live-streaming lessons, interactive activities, and assessment tools. But Olaniyi didn’t stop there. Recognising the potential for his platform to serve a global audience, he made the strategic decision to expand beyond Africa.
The company experienced early success in Africa, but the goal was always to scale globally. Once Olaniyi perfected the platform, he expanded it to North America by registering the start-up as an LLC in the State of Wyoming, with the mailing and principal office address listed as 1007 N Orange St, 4th Floor, 2791 Wilmington, DE 19801. The response was overwhelming. Parents in the United States and Canada are quickly adopting its solution, which has seen exponential growth. The EdTech company, Digitutors, was recognised in early 2023 by a Canadian-based non-profit, Aspire Hub Canada, for its exceptional dedication and invaluable contributions to the community in advancing digital skills and technology education.
As the company grew, Digitutors further refined its offerings. The focus on the latest technological tools and adaptive learning systems set it apart from many competitors, helping it gain a loyal user base. Now, Digitutors is preparing for its next big leap: Europe.
The CEO, Olaniyi, is excited about the European market because there is a significant opportunity for cross-border education solutions. The Digitutors platform is adaptable to various curricula, which makes it ideal for European countries with diverse educational systems. Despite its successes, the founder has faced major challenges in expanding Digitutors.
‘One of the biggest challenges has been building trust among parents unfamiliar with tech education. We addressed this by offering free introductory workshops to showcase the value of our courses,’ explains Olaniyi. ‘Another challenge was sourcing skilled instructors, which we overcame by developing a rigorous training programme for our educators, ensuring they align with our vision of delivering quality teaching and learning.’
Despite the challenges of scaling the business, Olaniyi’s innovative mindset, along with that of his partner, Glory, has been the driving force behind Digitutors’ rapid growth. Their leadership has turned a local start-up into a major player in the global EdTech space.
Looking back, Olaniyi reflects on how the COVID-19 lockdown, while difficult, inspired him to rethink education. He didn’t only want to develop an EdTech company to help people learn but also to help them adapt to an entirely new way of thinking about education. And that has been rewarding.
Today, Digitutors has a global team with a presence on different continents. With the European launch just around the corner, Olaniyi is confident that the company will continue its impressive expansion, revolutionising education worldwide.
Digitutors Solutions’ journey is a story of innovation, adaptability, and the founder’s vision. As the world rapidly changes, the company’s mission remains clear: to Give Your Child the Skills of the Future—today.
