- Uber has announced a new update that allows users to book virtual rides between two destinations and schedule rides in advance.
- This new feature aims to help people planning trips and vacations in over 10,000 cities by showing estimated fares and wait times for Uber rides at their destination.
- The platform uses recent and cumulative data from both on-demand and reserved Uber rides in each city, suggesting popular searches or allowing users to enter their destinations.
"Riders will now be able to see insights into the average wait time and cost of a ride from all local airports and within a given city," Uber said in a press release.
"Plus, you’ll have the option to reserve rides for upcoming trips”. Although they cannot currently adjust the setting to check wait and cost for different times of the day, it will give visibility to a specific route at a specific time.”
To access these insights, users need to select the "destination" box in the "plan your trip" tab and scroll down to "search in a different city." This will autofill popular choices or let you type in your destination.
Some users will start using this new tool as soon as July 16, while others may have to wait a few more days, depending on their city of residence. However, it will eventually be available to all customers.
