Hey guys!
We've hit 200 episodes! And we had a special guest join us on the podcast today.
But first, here are today's stories:
- US SEC delists Tingo temporarily
- EdenLife pivoting to a marketplace
- MTN reported plans to acquire 9Mobile spectrum
We had fun in the studio today and had the chance to meet one of our fantastic fans, Chinedum Okerengwor, Founder of Royalti.io. Fun fact: he pitched his startup at Techpoint Africa's Pitchstorm in 2021.
A quick rundown of what we discussed:
While we had some technical issues threaten to ruin the fun at the beginning, we were soon underway, and we begin with Tingo.
In June 2023, Hindenberg Research published a report which exposing irregularities at Tingo Group. It accused the group of several fraudulent activities. Now The US Securities and Exchange Commission has tagged the company an obvious scam and temporarily suspended trading of Tingo Group's shares.
Tingo is currently listed on Nasdaq and the suspension will end on November 28 due to a lack of "adequate and accurate" information.
Meanwhile, Eden Life, a company founded by ex-Andela employees, has made a foray into the eCommerce space, launching Eden Marketplace. This news comes after the company disclosed in October 2023 that it would expand its offerings in the coming months.

It was an all-Nigerian affair, as the last story we discussed revolved around MTN and its reported plans to buy 9Mobile spectrum. While the telecoms giant denied the reports, this is not the first time the company's name has been lumped in a conversation about a 9Mobile acquisition.
And if you are still trying to make sense of the discussion around this story and possible implications, this is a great time to tune in and listen to the podcast. If you read this far, you are my hero.
