It has been an eventful week and we could not help but talk about it on the Techpoint Africa Podcast. From Apple's World Wide Developer Conference 2022 (WWDC22) to Nigeria's primary election drama, we did not leave anything out.

We kicked things off with Apple and the exciting announcements they made at their WWDC event on Monday, June 6, 2022. Chimgozirim talked about some exciting features such as the continuity camera and the buy now pay later (BNPL) feature.

With our all-Android podcast panel, we could not help but diss Apple and its features, be sure to retaliate at podcast@techpoint.africa.

From Apple, we found our way back to Africa with MFS Africa's new $34 million acquisition of a US company — Global Technology Partners (GTP). Chimgozirim gives us all the interesting bits of the story and why the acquisition could Africans access services outside the continent.

Still, within Africa, we made our way to the East, talking about Ethiopia's new rule on crypto. The country's apex bank, National Ethiopia Bank (NBE) released a statement calling for all transactions in the country to be done with the Ethiopian Birr.

It also stated that citizens should not engage in any form of trading or payments with crypto. We talked about why Ethiopia is doing this and interesting ways it could enforce it.

We saved the best for last and discussed the drama that has ensued in Nigeria's political scene. The country's ruling party, the All Progressive Congress (APC), took several hours to decide who its presidential candidate would be and we explored technological solutions such as blockchain to speed up these processes and make them more efficient.
