This week, a story by a Covenant University (CU) graduate on Twitter spread through Nigerian social media like wildfire.
In the long thread which was later deleted, the young man named Emmanuel Addoh recounted how he was wrongfully accused of breaking the university’s by-laws and later expelled. He eventually sued the school to court and won the case. Read the full gist below.

Apparently there’s more to the story
In addition to deleting the tweets, Emmanuel also deleted his Twitter account. This person seemed to have figured out why;
Other CU Alumni share their experiences
Its time ex CU students come together & have a discussion with Papa.
Only one man with the vision while the staff are destroying the school.
Innocent me in 100L, a lecturer tormented my life all cuz i did not let d dream of him pressing breast come to pass

Lmao. It’s killing me that people don’t know how truly awful Covenant University is.
Forget all the phone and jeans jokes, that place is hell.
— Daniel Orubo (@NerdEfiko) September 11, 2018
The school’s Registrar is apparently their biggest problem
Team Glorified Secondary School VS Team Stop Hating, You Can’t Even Get In

Covenant University is a great school regardless
We can’t deny the fact that Covenant University is a great school.
A lot of us got jobs based on CU.
Papa loved us all dearly.
We had light and water, clean hostels and rest rooms, beautiful environment, no dust, seasoned lecturers, fine girls 😉 and boys that didn’t sag.
— Onome (@nomziiee) September 11, 2018
Covenant University is still the most respected private university in Nigeria by employer of labours and HR Managers.

Gist for the timeline
One chapel service in Covenant University, Pastor said ‘Drop whatever might be hindering your faith and pray to God. He will heal you’.
That’s how your MCM threw his glasses on the altar & was back in Health center the next day for new Glasses 😢😩
— Don Angie 🙇🏾♂️ (@Angel_HRH) September 11, 2018
One of the purest cruise in covenant, was when papa was angry during youth alive and said woe betide you if you sign for anyone and one guy came back to the hostel and told his friend he would have signed for him but he didn't know what woe betide you means.
— Dare (@labyllionaire) September 11, 2018
It wasn't all bad memories in CU.. who remembers when Pst Austin was speaking in tongues and said "Merci beaucoup Oduduwa" 😂😂😂😂

For a timeline that is quick to call out abuse, I haven't seen anyone calling what covenant university does abuse. Covenant University is a wonderful case study on the dangers and insanity of a Christian theocracy
— Chu-Chu (@ChuChuIgbokwe) September 12, 2018
If everything I’ve read today about Covenant University is true, then the school admin. has gone beyond religious/academic discipline to severe abuse of human rights and outright abuse & molestation.
The NANS, NUC & the Ministry of Education should look into this urgently.

The battle for Lagos state
Drama in the Lagos state political scene as All Progressives Congress (APC) powerhouse Bola Tinubu endorsed Jide Sanyaolu for the upcoming 2019 gubernatorial elections.
We were all expecting that he’d support Governor Ambode for a second term.
This man called it by the way;
On this handle I announced some weeks ago that Tinubu and Ambode are on war path but some Okpos doubted. Now you can see the game is up for Ambo. Next time, check the handle before you spew thrash!
— Jackson Ude (@jacksonpbn) September 11, 2018
“Meeting is over. Ambode is out. Jide Sanyaolu Sanwonolu is the new governor of Lagos. All 57 local government chairman have signed his form. It’s over,” the source said.
What an audacity?
No be Lagos people go vote?
New Governor of Lagos without election?
— Tosin Olugbenga (@TosinOlugbenga) September 11, 2018
Ambode I know how you can get back at Tinubu!
Just take down the toll gates and let it be like that Ajah one! Shebi you’re incumbent governor ?
We will vote you for third term sef

Femi Otedola’s nomination
While the Ambode vs Tinubu discussions were still ongoing, we saw this;
Breaking news: Lagos 2019 promises to be interesting. PDP offers Femi Otedola governorship ticket. He's accepted and personally confirmed to The Boss newspaper…
— Dele Momodu Ovation (@DeleMomodu) September 11, 2018
Someone called this one too;
PDP offers Femi Otedola governorship ticket, he will run against Ambode in the forth coming election.
Otedola didn't open IG &twitter accounts for the fun of it, he did not ride with the poor in Molue public transport for fun, he did all these because on his political ambition😊 pic.twitter.com/m8uE3YMr80
— Kemi Ariyo (@d_problemsolver) September 11, 2018
Femi Otedola should know security is a priority if he wants to win Lagos. The last time PDP presented a candidate with very real potential to snatch Lagos State from its landlord, that was Funsho Williams.
I don't need to finish telling the story.
— Nejeeb Bello Oyarese (@NejeebBello) September 11, 2018
Femi Otedola was heavily implicated in the fuel subsidy scam where billions of naira were stolen from Nigerians
He went ahead to bribed a federal legislator and even made the audio available.
Now, he is the "best" person to govern Lagos by the "good governance: advocates *sighs

Beverly Osu’s controversial photos
Nigerian model, actress and former Big Brother Africa housemate Beverly Osu was a topic of discussion on social media this week as a result of her photos on the cover of Taylor Magazine.
Beverly Osu is the definition of what is wrong with society.. Her portrait does not define "woke" it only portrays her Hoeism..
And using the rosary in that concept is frankly disturbing.. A really stupid human being..
Am ready.. Come at me..
— KlausSZN (@Nick_k1aus) September 11, 2018
It’s just art
Personally I won't condemn Beverly Osu. She's trying to pass a message . She's an actress for God's sake
— Man on Assignment (@ApostleNiyii) September 12, 2018
I don’t understand the problem people have with this @beverly_osu post.
Na cloth she wear, no be tailor sew am?
Was this attire invented by Jesus or by religion?
If it was invented by Jesus then I have a huge problem with it.
If it was invented by religion then I don’t get. pic.twitter.com/xI0NbDLzcd
— Daddy Freeze (@DaddyFRZ) September 11, 2018
We know Beverly Osu can't try this with Hijab, but to be artistic enough, sometimes you need to go the extra mile to pass a message. I do not condemn her, rather I'm more concerned about the message she's trying to pass with this shoot. pic.twitter.com/QmYAJLINAh
— Umeh💡 (@UmehWrites) September 11, 2018
I see nothing wrong with that Beverly Osu's shoot..
I love it even.
Portrays how highly hypocritical religious people are.
Don't get why people are in their feelings over it.
You can insult her all you want tho.
Won't change how true her message is. Smh
