The Lagos State Government, during a recent ministerial press briefing held in commemoration of the third year of the administration of Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode, revealed plans to transform the Sabo Industrial Estate, Yaba, into a technology hub.
The framework, according to this report, has already been laid down and the structure for the hub would be ready within the next 18 months.
Upon successful implementation of the ICT hub, it will serve as ground for youths within the state to showcase their talent.
Also, it will be a convening centre for technology entrepreneurs and support service providers keen on addressing the challenges confronting the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector.
Lagos state, before now, has been proactive in the area of ICT. If anything, the transformation of Sabo Industrial Estate into a tech hub apears to align with the overall vision to further position the state as a leading catalyst for ICT in the country.
This is a step in the right direction as the initiative could boost innovation and creativity among youths while equally promoting transfer of knowledge, employment generation, wealth creation and economic prosperity for Lagos State government and country as a whole.
The Sabo Industrial Estate is located around Oyediran axis in Yaba.
