On Wednesday, an anonymous Twitter user asked another Twitter user if she would date a man who earns ₦100,000 (about $280) per month. Her reply created quite a conversation on Twitter.
Below are a few reactions.
Someone tweeted that she can't date a guy with 100k salary y'all re crying, uncle look for a lady that will manage your 50k salary na.
— TBillion (@Tbillion40) January 17, 2018
You tell ur man his hard earned 100k is suffer head money , if i were the man i will use u for money rituals and use the money to Marry another woman . IDIOT.
— eDiffieD (@Ediffied) January 18, 2018
Then the debate began; is 100k too small or just fine?
100K is too small
100k is okay if…
Depending on where you live, you can totally make 100K work in this country. So many people are out of touch with reality.
— Ovie (@OvieO) January 18, 2018
If you as a wife is bringing in something, and your husband is too (both amounting to 100k or above it) and y'all have a decent saving culture, and start a small side business for extra income, and can cut your coats… You'll be fine really.
A lot of 'ands', and patience.
— Sodi (@jideunconformed) January 17, 2018

Two days ago you people could afford 800k sex doll, today you’re dragging someone for 100k! 😊
— Renè The Leader ❤ (@Rene_noire) January 17, 2018
Then someone tweeted this:
And people reacted

Even you is your sense working at all?
— Kehinde Fowosere (@ak_hausen) January 17, 2018

Proposal gone wrong
On Monday this week, we heard of a lady who decided to take her relationship with her man to the next level by proposing to him. She decided on a public proposal at the Ikeja City Mall (ICM). However, things didn’t go as planned. Watch the video below.
The video has since been trending on all social media platforms. Here are a few reactions.
Some people felt sorry for her
I’m still embarrassed on behalf of the girl whose proposal got declined by her boyfriend at ICM yesterday 😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩
— Ighodalo (@Denzel14n) January 15, 2018
Don't tell me the guy that turned down a girl's proposal at ICM was married pls, I'm still mourning for her.
— drizyBaby (@drizybens) January 16, 2018
I don't even have the mind to watch that ICM proposal video…I don't trust my emotions.
— Babajide (@_sodiq) January 15, 2018
While others couldn’t
Small Rejection of proposal at ICM she dey cry lmaooo
— OSI. (@Osi_Suave) January 15, 2018
This is so funny, it had to be ICM . I guess the proposal was too cheap for him😂😂
— Edem Ironbar (@edem_ng) January 15, 2018
The girl that got her proposal to her man turned down at ICM deserved it cos how do you propose to someone on the mainland?
— Nnanyi Biggie. JP, Ph.D, OON. (@BiggieMonzie) January 15, 2018
Just watched the proposal video at ICM and my sides hurt from laughing. I want to feel bad for her because she took one for the team, but the bad is just not coming😂😂😂😂
— Nlecha (@sugardaddycoco) January 15, 2018
Stop public marriage proposals!
This is why I'm against public proposals, you're putting yourself and the other person in an awkward situation. Doing it at home like me, collect your L or Yes in private.
But no, you lot never learn… pic.twitter.com/jvBfhXt2bd
— Wale Gates (@walegates) January 15, 2018
I just saw the ICM proposal now and I don’t get why she decided to do it in public tho. It’s a major deal she’s the one proposing, why not do it in a better environment. Somewhere lowkey. Your house or something. If it must be loud it shouldn’t be ICM loud abeg!
— CONSIGLIERE (@sammyfergie) January 15, 2018
Whether it's a lady or guy proposing does it have to be in public?REALLLLLLY, what's wrong with having a private proposal…..chai I tire for this trend.
— Aesha Raji (@IamAeshaRaji) January 16, 2018
Plot twist, the guy is already married…allegedly
The dude that rejected his girlfriend proposal at ICM is actually married to someone else lol..
I know ladies will start up their trend of "Men Are Scum" soon!
— King David (@MeetOlamide) January 16, 2018
I remember when that girl declined a Bruhh's proposal late last year, y'all found a way to blame the guy and called him Scum now a Bruhh decided to take one for the Team and said NO to a Sister for the Culture in ICM y'all saying Men Are Scum

— Yuri 🏗 (@Yurickane) January 16, 2018
I didn’t watch that ICM proposal video. So to get it right, she proposed to the guy she’s been dating and he refused…because he was already married? Men are scum 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
— Mr. Meow-Meow Fuzzy-Face (@Magnanimous__) January 16, 2018

Ladies, would you propose to your man?
Is your country a sh!thole?
Last week, American President Donald Trump reportedly questioned why the US would want to have immigrants from “shithole countries” such as Haiti and African nations. Donald Trump has been openly racist in the past and so is widely unpopular among non-whites and even whites globally.
Haitians aren’t taking these comments lying down, neither are African leaders. Nana Akufo-Addo, President of Ghana has openly condemned Donald Trump’s racist comments while the Nigerian Presidency summoned the US Ambassador to Nigeria over the demeaning comments.
Is Nigeria a shithole country?
Quick answer; No and Yes
30,000 Americans work and live in Nigeria. 117,000 Brits visit Nigeria yearly. Over one million Indians live in Nigeria. The Lebanese are the biggest applicants for Nigerian citizenship. Would so much people visit a shithole? Nigeria has many challenges, but it's not a shithole.
— World Publicist (@IsimaOdeh) January 15, 2018
As a PROUD Nigerian I am NOT here for Trump’s slander against my country. Let us be clear, Nigeria and Haiti are not #ShitHole — the policies coming out of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue are the true shitholes!! ✊🏽✊🏽IgboKwenu to my Nigerians 🇳🇬

— Dr. Wendy Osefo (@WendyOsefo) January 13, 2018
Definitely a shithole, so yes!
Poll for Nigerians.
Do you believe Nigeria is a #shithole?
— Onye Nkuzi (@cchukudebelu) January 18, 2018
How can President Buhari be expected to respond to Donald Trump’s insult about Nigerians living in huts and his “shithole” racism, when Buhari himself is a Fulani tribalist in Nigeria? The pot cannot complain that the kettle is black. Get this man out of Aso Rock in 2019.
— Femi Aribisala (@femiaribisala) January 16, 2018
Is Nigeria not a shithole country? Why are pretending to be angry
— Nimueh Anacksunamun🌚🌚 (@wickedstepmami) January 12, 2018
The bitter truth is that we are a "shithole" country, with a "shithole" govt. and a "shithole" President. It is left for us to clean up our shit, wash our arse, flush Buhari down the toilet, open the windows, get rid of the stench and make Nigeria a cleaner and better place.
— Femi Fani-Kayode (@realFFK) January 14, 2018
Nigeria is what it is.
And what it is, is not very pleasant.
If I continue saying "I am proud of Nigeria", will I (like the Nigerian Diaspora) enjoy 24 hours electricity, good roads or potable running water? No.
So let me tell you what Nigeria is.
It is a #shithole.
— Onye Nkuzi (@cchukudebelu) January 17, 2018
Nigeria IS a shithole country pic.twitter.com/X2EE6YRkrg
— Lanre Soff 🇳🇬🇳🇬 (@Daniel_Soff) January 13, 2018
If you genuinely murdered someone by mistake, you'll still serve some time in Jail for Manslaughter.
On this day in 2017, Nigeria's Military bombed over 230 IDPs at Rann, claiming it was in error. No one was prosecuted, no one resigned, no one was jailed.
Do I hear 'Shithole?'
— Prof Stanley Nwabia (@MrStanleyNwabia) January 17, 2018
Do you think Nigeria is a shithole?
Donald Duke for president
Another Donald was also in the news this week but for a different reason. The former governor of Cross Rive state, Donald Duke publicly hinted at his desire to run for president come 2019. He made this known at the 3rd Mike Omotosho Annual Lecture titled, “Mellinials as Protagonists in Nation Building,” on Sunday night in Abuja.
— Legit.ng | Leading the way (@legitngnews) January 15, 2018
Nigerians reacted to the news on social media.
We finally have a worthy candidate
If Donald Duke somehow wins the Presidency in 2019, I'm moving back to Nigeria.
— 𝕂𝕒𝕟𝕒𝕪𝕠 𝕆𝕟𝕪𝕖𝕜𝕒 🔴 (@kckane) January 16, 2018
If Former Governor; Donald Duke @Donald_Duke have declared to run for the office of the President, then it's a clear message to every Right thinking Nigerian youth that there is a candidate to VOTE for in 2019!
— Victory Chinonu Owhorji (@Chinonu) January 16, 2018
Donald Duke for President of the federal Republic of Nigeria 💥💥💥
— MrEvik (@mr_evik) January 16, 2018
Donald Duke declares? Okay, I have a 2019 candidate for now
— Gift 🖤 (@Giftama_) January 16, 2018
Donald Duke had better not get me this excited only to pull out in 2019 and run as Atiku's VP.
Somebody will die!
— Tee (@VillageGirl___) January 16, 2018
Donald Duke is my choice of presidential candidate and I’m hearing he has showed interest for the number 1 position. I will use my personal money to campaign for him any day!!!
— D. S. Olushegun (@WinningPsych) January 17, 2018
— TOMIWA (@JideolaNFB) January 16, 2018
Donald Duke or Donald Crook?
Donald Duke wants to be president of what country? When last did he speak on public issues affecting the masses for more than a decade now? Anyway, he knows he can never be vice-president talk more of ruling Nigeria and he KNOWS WHY!
— Maybeks (@Maybeks) January 16, 2018
Donald duke koh Donald crook ni mtcheeeew
— Akinkunmi Michael (@that_AM_guy) January 16, 2018
We’ll only support Donald Duke if…
If Donald Duke is truly gonna contest for Presidency in 2019, it'll be a great idea, but supporting him comes after he tells us his plans and how to he intends to achieve them.
I thought we are now "woke" enough to be cautious of "jumping" at OPTIONS just for their face values.
— Ifeoluwa Oguntona (@Ifop2010) January 16, 2018
I like Donald Duke but no body will get a free pass to Aso Rock on the basis of like anymore. He has to tell us what He Will Do and How.
— STURMGEWEHR 🇳🇬 (@Iam_Aziken) January 17, 2018
Donald Duke has declared
The party he decides to run on will determine if he will get my vote
— OSI. (@Osi_Suave) January 16, 2018
I'd love for Donald Duke to Run but not under PDP nor APC as i am sure the corrupt will hijack it during the primaries. Choose a neutral party and we will back you up. PDP and APC are both failed Parties. pic.twitter.com/YBbFCjXexY
— The plug 🔌 (@JustKobz) January 16, 2018
I'd gladly give my vote to Donald Duke my vote if he decides to run for presidency on the condition he won't run on the platform of his current party…I think we need to start voting for personalities and not party..let's review the law to accommodate this..#2019 Be wise
— Ibrahim Dayo-Karim (@IbrahimDKarim) January 16, 2018
Do you think he is fit to run for president?
Did someone hack the IMBD website?
In last week’s roundup, we reported that Nigerian award-winning actress, Funke Akindele was to star in Marvel’s new Avengers movie as published on the IMBD website. A few hours later, we noticed that she had been replaced with another award winning actress, Genevieve Nnaji.
Nigerians expressed confusion, disappointment among other things on social media.
Funke Akindele's name being removed from the Avengers cast is the real reason why our mothers advise us to keep shut when something good is about to happen to us. pic.twitter.com/JpNgGaZC6v
