Look What NIRA Did With Your Premium .NG Domain Money

by | Apr 17, 2015

You remember the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA) recently reviewed the status of over 1800 (not-so) premium .ng domains. Domains like aero.ng, acid.ng and freebies.ng, which were previously auction for outrageous prices, are now available for the “regular” price of N15000 (about $75).

But did you ever wonder what NIRA did with all that “premium” domain money? Here’s what the Ministry of Communication Technology tweeted earlier today

That’s right, NIRA built a house with all that premium domain money.

How much did this premium domains go for actually? Definitely not N15000. And how much of that is left for registrars after NIRA takes due commissions? We are getting you NIRA.

But if it’s any consolation, NIRA has also announced the launch of new .i.ng TLD

Way to take our shine NIRA. You want to start snatching all possible iterations of the .i.ng domain, as soon as they’re available, before the all go premium.
