Nairaland, the online community created by Seun Osewa in March 2005, is ten years old.
With over 1.3 Million registered accounts and a considerable number of unregistered users [registration is only necessary for posting] as of March 2015, Nairaland is ranked as the 7th most visited site in Nigeria (and the most visited indigenous site) according to Alexa.com.Nigeria reportedly has over 55 million Internet users, which means that Nairaland's 1.3 million corresponds to almost 3% of the entire internet population. As at June 2013, the site was receiving 6,845,453 unique visitors from 16,668,654 visits. and 60,031,356 pageviews in the 30 days of that month.
Not bad for Ten years. Not bad at all.
Even after a brief down time, following a successful hacking attempt which saw Nairaland offline briefly on the 22 June 2014; the site came back online three days after and it was business as usual.
Congratulations to Seun Osewa and the Nairaland Team for creating the quintessential online forum for Nigerians.
HAPPY TENTH BIRTHDAY, NAIRALAND!
