Over 300 developers, founders, and digital innovators from across the continent gathered in Lagos for the Build Afrika Summit 2025 by Web3 Afrika. A landmark event focused on accelerating Africa’s position in the global Web3 ecosystem.
Held at The Zone and spearheaded by visionary technologist Idris Olubisi, the conference spotlighted some of the most urgent conversations shaping Africa’s digital future. From blockchain scalability and decentralization in AI, to privacy by design and community-led innovation, the event fostered deep dialogue around building resilient, inclusive, and scalable Web3 solutions tailored to Africa’s unique context.
The sessions featured prominent figures pushing the boundaries of Web3 on the continent. Ernest Nnamdi, Developer Relations Engineer at Morph, shared his perspective on how African builders can scale with impact and create meaningful infrastructure. Tobiloba Adedeji, a DevRel engineer at Gaia and vocal open-source advocate, spoke about the growing intersection of AI and decentralized systems, calling for urgent attention to data protection and innovation security.
Joshua Nwankwo, a respected voice in community-led growth, emphasized the role of inclusivity in driving the adoption of Web3 across diverse user bases. Yinka Oshidipe delivered a compelling talk on privacy by design, urging developers to embed user protection as a foundational principle in product development. Web3 educator and tech writer Opeyemi Stephen challenged attendees to own their intelligence in an age of rapid technological shifts, calling for a mindset shift from consumption to intentional creation.
Reflecting on the journey that led to this milestone, Idris Olubisi, founder of Web3 Afrika, shared:
“When I founded Web3 Afrika three years ago with a few like-minded builders, our goal was simple: to support and educate emerging talent across the continent. As someone transitioning from Web2 to Web3, I knew firsthand how isolating it could feel. That challenge inspired me to create the kind of ecosystem I once needed. Today, it’s grown into a thriving, collaborative community empowering Africa’s next generation of builders.”
The Web3 Afrika Conference 2025 proved to be more than just another tech event, it was a bold statement. A statement that Africa is not only ready to participate in the decentralized future, but also to lead it. Through knowledge exchange, collaboration, and a unified vision, the conference set a strong precedent for Africa’s next wave of Web3 innovation.
