Zoho

The news:

  • Zoho, an Indian-born multinational technology company, will work with She Code Africa (SCA), a non-profit organisation equipping young girls and women with tech skills.
  • Under the partnership, Zoho will introduce SCA Academy trainers to Zoho Creator — the company's low-code app development platform. This will be done through “Train the Trainer sessions.”
  • In turn, the SCA trainers will pass the knowledge down to female students in Nigeria associated with the non-profit, empowering them with low-code skills to build relevant solutions for solving real-time business problems.

This upskilling session will come under Zoho Creator's ‘Young Creators Program’ (YCP), which will see the tech company host 30 female SCA Academy trainers to a three-day in-depth training session about building enterprise-grade applications with low-code technology.

As part of the training, which will take place at Zoho’s Lagos, Nigeria, office, the SCA trainers will also gain free access to the Creator platform with training resources for one year.

Kehinde Ogundare, Country Head at Zoho Nigeria, stated that the company is committed to its transnational localism, its growth strategy that embodies supporting local communities through upskilling and hiring of local talent, equipping local businesses with Zoho technology, and promoting responsible and sustainable development.

Ogundare noted that this new partnership with SCA marks the company’s continued commitment to these values.

With a community of more than 51,000 members and a goal to empower 100,000 girls with tech skills by 2030, this partnership aligns with SCA's long-term.

The company says the YCP, launched globally in 202, aims to close the technical skill gap by empowering the next generation of business leaders and professionals with advanced digital skills.

The program achieves this by providing access to the Zoho platform, helping youth develop custom applications easily without extensive programming knowledge.

In addition to tech skill development, the programme is expected to build confidence, encourage personal growth, and position participants for further opportunities in the technology industry.

Since its inception, the Zoho-run YCP has trained over 2000 students worldwide with participants earning program completion certificates and winning various locations prizes.
