Payaza, a leading African payment solutions provider, has announced a significant rebrand to support its ambitious global expansion and the launch of new innovative products. The company's rebranding effort aims to position Payaza as a key player in the international payment industry. It reflects its commitment to supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across Africa and beyond.

A global payment platform for MSMEs

Sharing the story that led to the rebranding, Seyi Ebenezer, CEO of Payaza, explained that after considering their growth around payments and reviewing their brand guide, they discovered some pitfalls in the previous guide that didn’t fit the current state and future of the company. This realisation led to the rebranding, which began about six months ago. Ebenezer emphasised the strategic importance of the rebrand, noting that it represents more than just a change in visual identity.

He spoke of their recent acquisition of a money services business license to operate in the United States of America, their operations in Africa, and their ongoing expansion into the Middle East, adding that at the end of this new journey, they hope to have solved all the payment challenges plaguing African businesses.

Ebenezer said, "Our goal is to make payment seamless and accessible for everyone, and we believe Payaza 2.0 is a significant step towards achieving that goal.”

Philip Akinyele, the Chief Technology Officer of Payaza, shared insights into the company's journey and vision. "The journey started about four years ago and the promise was that we were going to launch a global payment platform that supports businesses, especially MSMEs. We have seen an advantage across Africa, where a lot of MSMEs are underserved. That’s one of the problems that the new Payaza wants to solve."

Akinyele elaborated on the company's mission to elevate African businesses to a global stage. "Beyond that, how do we help African businesses and take them from their current location and make them global businesses? We expose them to the world and connect with them in terms of how they collect payments globally. We make transactions seamless for them, ease their pain, and help them become sustainable businesses. That's one of the key things we are driving for them in Payaza."

Expanding operations

Currently present in 21 African countries, with operational bases in 10 of those countries, Payaza plans to expand its reach to all 21 African countries in the coming months. "We are looking at some core African countries where they are currently underserved, and we are going to penetrate those markets. Our goal is to connect Africa to the world with the aim of accepting payments and also making African businesses visible to the world," Akinyele explained.

Akinyele underscored the importance of trust in establishing Payaza as a reliable payment gateway. "We want to become the most trusted payment gateway in Africa. A big factor in doing business with anyone is trust. So, now that we're establishing and putting that trust there, people are able to do business with more Africans. Then Africa can become prosperous in the future."
