It has been an eventful week in the Nigerian tech ecosystem and for obvious reasons. When the head honcho at Africa's biggest tech company with a $3 billion valuation gets embroiled in accusations as serious as fraud, insider trading and sexual harassment, almost nothing else will matter in the ecosystem.
In today's edition of the Techpoint Africa Podcast, we unearth questions surrounding the allegations raised by investigative Journalist, David Hundeyin against the CEO of African fintech behemoth, Flutterwave.
But before our reporter, Ogheneruemu, shared some very interesting fact-checks about the whole Flutterwave issue, we kicked things off on a lighter and more positive note.
First, we dwelled on the survey that discovered that fans of Bitcoin might be psychopaths who don’t care about anyone. According to the lead author, Dr Di Wang, crypto-traders have qualities of "extreme selfishness and taking advantage of others without empathy.”
Does this mean we should stay away from crypto enthusiasts? You can find out in the podcast.
After resident blockchain reporter, yours truly, exonerates himself, we move on to data centres and their recent growth in Nigeria. Senior Reporter, Emmanuel Paul, gave us the load down on Airtel Nigeria and MainOne's new data centres, and we even heard from CEO, Funke Opeke on the importance of data centres in the country.
We closed today's edition on the big story. Ogheneruemu presented fact-checks that opened up even more questions about the allegations levelled against Flutterwave CEO, Olugbenga Agboola.
From stories that don't add up to claims that cannot be verified keep tabs on the Techpoint Africa Podcast as the Flutterwave story unfolds.
