Fulani herdsmen strike again
In last week's roundup, we reported that Fulani herdsmen attacked Tiv communities in Benue state as they have in other states across Nigeria. This week, in a fresh attack, herdsmen invaded a Mobile Police camp in the Logo Local Government of Benue State, killed two policemen and burnt some houses in the area after the attack.

Just now, we heard news of the herdsmen attacking the camp of Mobile policemen, Mopol 13 in Benue, killing two officers by slitting their throats. Do you call people who could invade the camp of mobile policemen in a guerilla manner & overpower armed Mopol mere Fulani herdsmen?

Following the death toll of victims of these attacks, the Benue State govenment conducted a mass burial for the 73 victims of the attack yesterday. Indegenes of Benue state and other Nigerians took to social media to mourn the dead using the #BenueMourns hashtag. Here are a few of them.

I live in a country where Fulani herdsmen are allowed to own guns to kill innocent people in Benue over cow related issues.
In this country, SARS/police brutality is celebrated.
In this country, we have to beg the government to intervene in these serious issues.

In response to the outcry, President Buhari, using his official Twitter account tweeted this:

According to the factsheet, the Presidency has directed the Inspector General of Police to relocate to Benue State, the Nigerian Army has deployed Special Forces to Benue, Taraba, and Nasarawa States among other actions. Read it here. Someone suggested how to stop nomadic grazing from clashing with other forms of farming in Nigeria. Read the thread here.
