- Econet on the verge of an IPO. African telecoms giant, Econet is reportedly seeking to go public on the London Stock Exchange at a valuation of $8 billion, with a possible secondary listing in Johannesburg. Link.
- Even more IPOs. Three of Africa’s largest telecommunication tower companies also plan to pursue share sales in either London or New York early next year. Link.
- Defenders of the telecomverse. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have signed an MOU on protection of critical telecom infrastructure. Link.
- Naspers releases half-year numbers. Naspers, the South African-based multinational internet and media group behind well-known companies like MultiChoice (DStv), SimilarWeb and Konga, recorded a 39% revenue growth year on year, with 82% of that coming from business outside South Africa. Link.
