Among several founders who have a unique bond with their startups is Stephen Oloh. He founded Alosab on September 20, 2017, to address a painful problem that most people encounter when seeking rentals.
What fueled Stephen’s desire to combat this challenge was the personal experience he had with a renowned rental agency in Nigeria sometime back. After he had navigated through the website, selected his preferred apartment and was about to proceed for viewing and payment, he realised the apartment was no longer available. “The experience was not pleasant. It was frustrating. I had to start walking and searching myself. And for those who live in the streets of Lagos and maybe Port Harcourt, they will surely know how hard it is to find a house” he told Techpoint.
Situated in Port Harcourt, Alosab helps clients to find houses in an easy, credible and convenient way; it also provides affordable moving and relocation services.
Alosab claims to have done an extensive market research in Enugu, Port Harcourt and Uyo prior to launch. As such, compared to major rental services providers in Nigeria, it’s solution is more streamlined, simple and better.
Anyone who has used most real estate digital infrastructures to try finding an apartment may recognise the need for a simple, better, more streamlined solution, in securing a property rental, rather than a clutterred platform with a lot of features making that makes a website so complicated for an average user to navigate.
How Alosab works
You place a request on the platform and input necessary details such as name, number, preferred rent and neighbourhood. Then Alosab calls to confirm the details and genuineness of the request. Thereafter, both parties agree to the terms of service before Alosab commences a search.
Every time an Alosab officer comes across a house matching a client’s request, the client is contacted, sent photos and most times a short video for a virtual tour. The search period varies with a client’s urgency to move, but on average, it takes two days to get the client three options to view. Alosab is a custom rental solution, it only deals with individual rental based on requests as opposed to having stale listings. The goal, according to the team, is to make users happy in the end by getting them the proper and needed house specification.
