Mobile rules Facebook earnings for Second Quarter, 2015

by | Aug 10, 2015

Mobile advertising tops the table of Facebook revenue for the second quarter of the year.

Mobile advertising has grown from nothing in 2012 to contributing more than two-third of total revenue and tripling that of desktop advertising, which over the years has not recorded any significant growth rate.

Mobile advertising recorded $2.909B for the quarter, while desktop advertising and payments have
$918M and $215M, respectively. Revenue from mobile advertising accounted for 76 per cent of advert revenue, from 62 per cent of Q2 in 2014 and approximately 72 per cent of total revenue for the company.

With a community of more than 1.4 billion users, 1.31 billion of which are monthly active users on mobile and 665 million mobile-only monthly active users. For the social media giant, mobile is the future even when its other platforms are mobile-centric – WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.
