The deadline for the Bank Verification Number (BVN) registration is tomorrow, Tuesday, June 30, 2015 as announced by the Central Bank of Nigeria. The BVN registration has been open for about One and a half years, giving all customers more than enough time to register; hence there would be no further extension of the deadline. The director, Corporate Communications, CBN, Ibrahim Mu’azu confirmed that about 14 million bank customers have registered.
Bank customers who do not have the BVN would still be able to carry out basic transactions like making payments and withdrawals but would not be able to carry out internet banking, other online services and use of ATMs.
Although online platforms were created for Nigerians in Diaspora to register but a lot of them are still unaware of BVN and its benefits of BVN.
