The Lagos State government and LAGBUS Asset Management Limited have collaborated to launch 100 air-conditioned “Metro Buses” with on-board Wi-Fi.
The new buses, which will cover Sango-Oshodi, Obalende- Ikorodu, and Island-Epe routes, are launching as part of a test run towards providing a total of 1800 similar buses, to ply 47 routes in the Lagos metropolis. All 100 buses are fitted with security cameras that live-feed directly to security agencies.
LAGBUS has also announced the introduction of SMS alerts – passengers will soon be able to check bus arrival times by SMS.
It is unclear whether these services will be free, especially as there was a mention of “sales agents selling preloaded cards”. Techpoint has reached out to LAGBUS for more information. We will update you accordingly.
