Nigeria’s most anticipated general elections kickoff on Saturday 16th of February 2019; less than 20 hours from press time.
There have been allegations and serious concerns that the internet may be shut down during the election period on Saturday. Nigeria’s Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has officially denied these claims.

If the internet is not shut down on Saturday, here are ways to monitor the 2019 Nigerian presidential elections online.
Channels Television YouTube
Channels is one of Nigeria’s national broadcasting television stations and it has a 24-hour YouTube live streaming channel. Most television stations in Nigeria will cover the elections extensively, including Channels Televisions which by extension will have this coverage streaming live via YouTube.
To watch, subscribe to Channels Television official channel on YouTube and tune in at any convenient time during the election for updates.
Dedicated Twitter Hashtag
Ahead of the elections, Twitter recently launched an official ‘Twitter Moment’ that curates verified updates of the upcoming Nigerian presidential elections through its Twitter Moments official account.

The thread will curate tweets from relevant and verified handles ranging from those of local and international media organisations, journalists, celebrities, civil organisations, political analysts and other concerned parties.

Follow the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
Established in 1998, INEC is the official electoral body that overlooks every election in Nigeria. For a few years now, INEC has been very active on social media with voter information and education.
To get updates on the elections, you can follow INEC across their social media pages on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
The handles across these is ‘@inecnigeria’ and has a verified blue tick on Facebook and Twitter. Instagram is not verified but has 61,600 followers. Do not follow any other INEC pages.
