With the mindset that Africa is the future, considering the expected population of about 2.2 billion by 2050, FastForward Africa (FFWDAfrica) is charging itself with contributing to the growing tech ecosystem on the continent.

FastForward Africa is positioning itself as the first UK-based accelerator targeted to serve African tech startups and entrepreneurs.

“We are linking the UK and Africa innovation ecosystems with the aim to unlock business opportunities for both economies and enable development of technology solutions that drive change.”

The accelerator would train, mentor while also investing in entrepreneurs whose passion is making a difference using technology-based solutions that address an African challenge.

FFWDAfrica wants to leverage on the opportunities that awaits tech and innovation in Africa which is attributable to the continent’s unique challenges that need addressing using tech and innovative solutions.

Definitely the presence of technology hubs on the continent is a plus to the ecosystem but FFWDAfrica is coming in on the note that there’s the struggle with insufficient funding. This with the mission of unlocking growth opportunities for businesses in the UK while also creating solutions to drive the continent.

FFWDAfrica has a three-step programme structured to support African entrepreneurs: idea pre-accelerator, startup accelerator and scale up support for new innovative ideas, early-stage startups and startups out of accelerator, respectively.

Applications are open for the Idea pre-accelerator while that of the startup accelerator programme would be open by early 2016.
