The final session of MTN Foundation’s ICT and Business Skills training was held on Friday, May 20, 2022, in partnership with Meta. The training was led by Chikwenze Raphael and Timothy Ukaegbu from the Small Business team at Meta, and here are four things we learnt:

  1. Importance of having an online presence: As entrepreneurs in a digital age, it is important to have an online presence. Having an online presence will serve as a source of information about your business, showcase your business, tell your unique business story, develop relationships and make connections with customers.
  2.  How to properly engage your audience: After establishing your presence online, it is important to constantly engage your audience. The first step is to create a plan to properly engage your audience. Your plan should include specific and smart goals you hope to achieve while connecting with your audience. Next, you ensure that you create engaging content.
  3. How to manage online presence with Meta Business Suite: Meta Business Suite enables you to manage your online presence from your Facebook Page, Instagram business account and Messenger in one place. To properly manage your online presence, first, you create and schedule posts and stories, including text, images and videos. Then, you connect your Facebook business age and Instagram business account to create posts and stories. You can also view insights and respond to comments through Facebook’s business suite.
  4. Creating online advertisements for your business: As a business owner, when you create an advertisement using the ads manager, you have total control over the advertisement. However, it is important to always bear in mind the objective of the advertisement. When you do this, your designs are based on your objectives, which will in turn attract your audience. A regular advertisement will include the creative (pictures or videos), the caption and the call-to-action.
