Clubhouse has launched the Android version of its app. However, it is only available to US residents at the moment.

The invite-only audio chat app launched in March 2020 and has been exclusive to iPhone users. The Android version of the app is a product feature that has been clamoured for.

After revealing that it started beta testing for the Android version last week, a blog post released by the team on Sunday, May 9, announced that the beta Android version is now available. Beginning with the US, the rollout will continue with other English-speaking countries and spread to the rest of the world with time.

In the meantime, the company plans to gather feedback from the community, fix any issues identified, and add features like payments and club creation before the rollout reaches a wider audience. Interestingly, Android users can sign up now and get notified when the app reaches their locations.

The question remains: is Clubhouse not too late? Given that giant apps like Twitter, Facebook, Telegram, Discord, Spotify, and even LinkedIn, have added live audio chat features, will its initial exclusiveness make Android users jump on the product in gratitude? Or will the reaction among some users be "Okay, what next"?

Following a recent undisclosed Series C raise led by Andrew Chen of Andreessen Horowitz, the startup is valued at $4 billion.

Insight firms like AppMagic have shown a plummet in Clubhouse installs. It remains to be seen if this new feature will give the startup a revenue boost.
